How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was a bit dirty, breakfast was too basic and there was miscommunication with the staff - they promised we could take-away our breakfast and the last moment they said no so we ended up with nothing. If they said no right away, we would have bought something for the day as we were leaving with 5 hour bus but like this we had no choice and no food.
The location was perfect.

During my 4 stays, I found often hair in the bed, a reeking bathrooms, and the towels we got were also humid. However, given the location we chose this hostel always again
Hidden House is super central and that is why we chose it. It is close to the obelisco teleferico, the mercado de la brujas and the plaza murillo. Also the price is super fair.

Noise from the washing machine room next door. Breakfast is so so As always in Bolivia : curtains that do not stop the light at all on the windows. Not bad now you get what you pay for I guess

Can be a little noisy during the night as they lock the gates but the doorbell for anyone trying to get in can be heard from your room wakening you through the night

My shower went all over the floor as curtain too short and there was nothing to mop it up with nor anything dry to stand on like a bath mat. It was dangerous to walk on the wet floor - especially going to the toilet at night! It would also be great if people were asked to not stomp around with shoes on nor pull furniture around in their rooms as the noise travels to other rooms so easily and is not nice - especially from rooms above. I don’t think people realize that so a little sign in each room would probably make them aware. 🤗
Would have been lovely to have some scrambled egg for breakfast with the roll rather than just jam and great if you had a toaster to toast the bread. The guy in the kitchen was great at cooking my bread up in the frying pan for me! (I have never eaten cold bread rolls for breakfast before!) He was great to try and get me what I wanted 💜

The room would get pretty cold, and the bathroom flooded very easily after using the shower- no provision of a bath matt for floor.
Really good location in the middle of the touristy area with lots of great food places nearby. Very affordable option and spacious room.

THE STAIRS (we were on the3rd floor and no elevator) The bed is not comfy and the rooms are cold at night No sound proofing, you can hear what neighbours say and do
The location is great if you are looking for tours as most departures are from this neighbourhood Good restaurants and bars around with good view at night

The bathroom - the door did not shut, it could have been cleaner, the shower curtain was ripped and was too short so the floor was very wet after showering (the shower was hot though).
Great location, close to attractions and restaurants. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

It's not that social - more a hotel vibe than hostel.
Nice dorm room with single beds and a private bathroom. The location is good - it's in the middle of the touristic area.

Of the 5 nights I stayed, there was only hot water in my shower for 1 of those nights. I was able to use the shower in one of the downstairs rooms, but only when I thought to ask if that was an option, it was never offered. The room was also very cold and generally a bit smelly, almost like mould. There are no lockers for your belongings in the dorm. The phone number you are given on check in doesn’t seem to be monitored.
Excellent location. Spacious dorm. Decent wifi.
