Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is very traditional but a little dated, and a kettle in the room to make a hit drink would have been very welcome.
As an overnight stop on a road trip, this hotel was great. It was clean, very friendly, we had a large room with generally adequate facilities, free parking, and the breakfast was super.

GermanyThe rooms and bathrooms are a bit old, but clean.
Great location, you can see the Schloss Lichtenstein up the cliff from the windows, very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast. The restaurant is also very good. The Biergarten must be very nice in summer, unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy it now (end of October).

United KingdomDO NOT arrive early. We did and had to wait along with other guests for the 4pm check in time. Be Warned! Room used was next to a main road but window was well insulated fir sound. Menus in the restaurant were in german only and my German is VERY limited. Without the help of the chef, we would have struggled to order food.
Comfortable room, good breakfast, very good evening meal, VERY helpful staff. Ample off road parking.

GermanyNo air conditioning, obviously this is like most of Europe, but some of the rooms don’t have a cross breeze when you vent the window/door to the balcony so it gets hot.
The Hotel is defiantly old school, the rooms are back in the 80s, but there was plenty of room. We had a large family and they accommodated us with three rooms that shared a balcony looking directly up at Lichtenstein Castle. Very friendly staff and great food at the hotel restaurant. The owners are very personable people. Great access to hiking/biking trails. We enjoyed it.

United StatesOur meal was nearly the cost of the room. The meal price for the portions received seemed very steep. Paying for water to drink is not appreciated or what we are accustomed to.
We ate dinner at the hotel. The chef was very helpful and friendly in helping us make selections. Our room had a common balcony with views of the lit up Castle Lichtenstein.

United KingdomOnly staying one night.
We have stayed here twice now - and the food is exceptional. The host (chef) is a real character and an amazing chef. The hotel is a traditional family run place and some may say dated, where as we loved the quirky layout and the fact this place is different. I took 17 people to the hotel this time and I think everyone loved the place. We had fish soup, a choice of local steak or freshly caught trout (literally netted after ordered!), a lovely choice of desert. Foodies, stay open minded and this place is definitely worth a visit and chef may even come and spend time with you once he gets chance.

GermanyTime to get a new pool table and cues... :-)
A cosy, comfortable, somewhat "old-style" hotel run by very nice and friendly owners - btw I do confirm all the positive reviews and good impressions about them and the staff in general. An unforeseen, "overbooking-like" problem with our room has been quickly solved in the best possible way. The hotel is conveniently located if you like to do some trekking, the surroundings woods are very nice, otherwise Reutlingen is just 10km away. The breakfast was OK, we appreciated the genuine, home-made jam. The restaurant is very good and serves traditional dishes based on regional and 0-km ingredients. Portions are very generous. Tips: the fresh trouts from a fish farm some 400m away from the hotel and the excellent Käsespätzle. Take-away message: If you like cold, ultramodern design hotels with all the possible facilities you would be better served elsewhere. If I had to spend again some time in that area I would surely return.

United StatesRoom was a little warm-very hot and humid day/night. Second floor Room had floor to ceiling large glass window (can't be opened) and a door to outside balcony but no other windows to open
The owner, Uhlrig (not sure of spelling) was an outstanding host. He allowed us to check out a couple of rooms to pick the one we liked. He was very helpful with lots of information on hiking up to the castle Lichenstein, on swimming at the local community pool (refreshing mountain water, high dive, no crowds, lap swimming, over 10 feet deep). Good dinner (Trout plucked out of the stream right next to the hotel) outdoor seating.
