Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandBasic facilities and cold(ish) shower, but great value for money.
Lovely family, warm and welcoming. Food was fantastic, authentic Fiji experience. The family went out of their way to organise trips and experiences for us- we went spearfishing which was great fun and got to BBQ fish and eat together afterwards. Would thoroughly recommend, and happily return in the future.

AustraliaNothing really.. all was part of the adventure!!
We so enjoyed the view and peacefulness of the surrounds, The cottage huts were simple but perfectly fine with all basic needs. Cold showers but can manage that in the climate. We were able to explore surrounds as we desired via walking or kayak and boat. For us I have to say engaging with the family was an absolute highlight. Playing and interacting with the children was such fun. They even walked with us to show us their school and church and shared there bit of paradise with us.. also teaching us Fijian words and even a song. Evelyn and Toki were wonderful hosts , Evelyn Keeping us well fed and organising our snorkeling trip and transfers. Toki faciltating our snorkeling trips ( and even providing a ladder for rentry to boat. Most grateful for... Thanks Toki. )Nothing was a trouble for Evelyn even as she is busy with running a family and businees.. We also very much enjoyed meeting some new friends in fellow guests.. feel very fortunate to have had such a lovely experience. Thankyou you so much for sharing your slice of paradise with us Annette and Ross

United KingdomI wish we had more time here!
One of our favourite stays in Fiji. We were hosted by the wonderful Evelyn, who is so genuine and caring and her cooking is delicious. Evelyn kindly catered to our vegan diets, which we heavily appreciate. If you like alternative milk with breakfast, bring some with you and they will kindly refrigerate it for you. Alesia was a wonderful helper and I enjoyed speaking with her. The room was beautiful, light and airy, with a lovely view. Definitely check out the blue lagoon beach and don't miss the summit hike either! Note that if you wish to swim every day, the best option is to go to the blue lagoon, as the property is among mangroves so you can't swim there. The first boat trip to the lagoon is free and from then on it's just $20pp return which is good value. We loved eating together with other guests.

New ZealandThe homestay was lovely. We felt right at home once we got there. Every meal we were treated to amazing food! Initially I was hesitant as we weren’t on a white sandy beach. However, this meant we were able to go looking for qeqe and kaikoso during low tide which we got to eat for lunch and dinner. We were a 5 min boat ride away from blue lagoon so we could spend a few hours there then come back to relax. During our homestay we were able to become friends with other travellers and the family themselves which truly made the experience for me.

CanadaThe beach is not great for swimming, but a short boat ride to the blue lagoon ( for a fee)
The family. It’s a true Fijian experience. Live in a cabin on a local family’s farm. The food cooked by Rosa and Evelyn is excellent. They have power and fans. Take extra money to pay for day trips. The meal plan is excellent value and strongly recommend it. The three children ages 5-1 are joyful to be around. The oldest Bula makes an excellent tour guide. Compared to other places in the area this place is exceptional value. You are also supporting a family. The water at the property is spring fed and is drinkable. ( All the other places to stay in the area also charge for day trips )

CanadaThere were some ants in the sink but it’s not too bad. No other bugs.
Rosa’s cooking was amazing - she was able to accommodate my dietary requests of dairy and gluten free and made separate meals for me. Both her and husband Jerry were great hosts who made our stay very homey and cozy. My cellular Internet worked great here as well. They also organized the cave excursion which was super fun. The bungalows were also quite spacious and had a great view of the beach and water underneath it. We also participated in the family’s kava ceremony which they organized for the guests to join in

New ZealandAccomodation could do with basic repairs such as shower head, door knobs louvre windows working properly, toilet paper hanger secure, tiling needs repair, visitors should be aware that 3 beds are in a small space with no divider. We understand that it may be difficult to do repairs due to the location however and we did enjoy our stay.
Beautiful location, views from property, motorboat rides, trip to lagoon, kayaking, hike, family atmosphere, cultural experience, reasonable cost, hosts were mindful of our safety always

AustraliaWe loved it all, but are glad we read reviews so we knew what to expect. In some ways the accom feels like camping (cold showers, ants in the room). It was exactly what we wanted and needed, and is very good value for money, but may not suit you if you are seeking a resort experience.
Bay of Plenty was a one-of-a-kind experience. The location is beautiful, stunning views to the bay and nearby islands. The vibe is relaxed and relaxing, and it's a great spot to slow down and read or nap during the day, and star gaze at night. The host family made us feel very welcome, and it felt special to get to know them during our stay. The food was delicious, and our vegan diet was well catered to. The trip to the caves was incredible, and sea kayaking to a secluded beach was another highlight.

United StatesI loved my little cottage, but a writing desk would be a nice addition for those quiet hours when one is inclined to do a bit of scribbling or even work, though the latter isn't recommended when in a spot such as this.
Rosa and Jerry, as well as the other members of their family and staff, proved to be ideal hosts. They shared much about their lives and culture and went out of their way to make guests feel welcomed. For hiking and kayaking, this place can't be beat. And they offer lots of other trips to nearby caves, villages, etc.

Ukrainei thought the description was not quite accurate: - the electricity only runs 4 hours in the evening (instead of all night as written on booking) - there is no electricity in your room at all (only lights). to charge things you have to go to the dining area (about 3 mins walk downhill). there are a lot of frogs on the pass and at night time they jump under your feet (I stepped on 2 frogs accidentally even tho I was trying not to) - the homestay is located not on nanuya lailai but on the other island about 5-10 mins boat ride from there. they were late to pick us up and we had to wait in the small boat for about 10 mins in the sun - there is no actual beach near the homestay. to go to the beach you either have to kayak/ walk (on the low tide) for about 40 mins or get a ride to the blue lagoon every time. the pictures from the booking.com are from the blue lagoon. if you go there be careful and do not go alone too far away. I went out kayaking and had a pretty bad incident happening to me. especially girls have to be careful not to go alone! - when I was there there were no activities running besides the blue lagoon which I thought was a bit unfair. if you come for longer be prepared that there might not be much to do - as a solo traveler you might find yourself there with couples only (4 cottages total). there are not a lot of people around so be prepared for that - some people had breakfast included but some not which I thought was weird. also breakfast could be improved: we have plain donuts only. would have been good to have healthier option like eggs or porridge, some fruit etc. overall it was a pleasant stay and good experience but I think you should be aware of the points above before you make your decision.
-hidden location, - get an insight into the daily life of local people -the place was quite well maintained compared to some other homestays, -dinner was really good, -free boat ride to the blue lagoon is definitely a must -the boys and the kids were fun. I wish they would have told me more about their lives & we would have done more things together with locals

AustraliaThere really isn't anything, the fact that you cannot swim from the lodge is about the only thing but that is easily overcome by a trip for 5 mins by boat to blue lagoon or you can try your hand at kayaking 30mins to a secluded little beach :)
This was a unique stay and truly relaxing! The huts are basic, as they say it is not a resort but it is clean and you have everything you need so just embrace it. The view is beautiful and the wind in trees at night is musical. The food is gorgeous traditional Fijian and very fresh. Evelyn, Toki, little Bula and Kuna were so welcoming they were looking after the place whilst Rosa was on the mainland. It is a few mins by boat to the Blue Lagoon where the water colour is out of this world. There is a spa at the Blue Laggon but massages are also available at the lodge. The school visit is an absolute must!! The children are just gorgeous and so friendly and polite. Bring some school supplies if you can fit in your bag they will appreciate it. It was my birthday whilst I was there and they surprised me with a beautiful cake delivered by boat from the mainland so super thoughtful everyone was wishing me a Happy Birthday- they must have told the whole village :) The caves were worth the trip not just the caves which were spectacular but the trip out is pretty special and only 40mins by boat from the lodge.

United StatesA few repairs to the lodging bungalows would help , but they are in the process of improving them. They are clean and safe.
This is a home stay and not one of the many beach resorts you will pass by on the Yasawa ferry. If you want to experience daily life in Fiji and learn about life for the people of the Yasawas this is a great place to do it. It’s basic but the family will do their best to help you and enjoy life there. It’s not luxury living, but not needed here.

We really got to see the true Fiji not just the big resorts. The view from the cabin was beautiful. It was great to take the kayaks out and to be so close to the Blue Lagoon which is a ten minute boat ride away. Our host family were so friendly and it was lovely to have time to get to know them and the other guests staying at the Bay of Plenty.
