Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPoor room cleaning quality. Floor not properly washed, carpets dusty, bath not washed daily. Old dust and dirt in corners of WC.
Having a bathtub. But the staff told me they are getting rid of all baths in the rooms which is a shame. We come to Beaugency 3/4 times a year and if there will be no bath we will not stay again. Clean sheets. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast with a wide variety of cheeses, breads etc but no hot eggs. Private parking a huge bonus!

NetherlandsThe bathroom in our room had recently been upgraded with twin sinks either side of large bath. The only drawback was you had to climb into the bath to turn on the taps! Shower head was mounted very low and no shower screen.
Very friendly staff, good breakfast. Good ambiance - have stayed here before and would stay again. It was fairly quiet being end February

United StatesThe only complaint was that after we checked in about 8:30 p.m. and got in our room, we needed an additional portable heater as the room was cold (there was only 1 for a good size, 2 level room) and the TV was not connected. The frustrating part was that the host had left the property and no staff were in the hotel to help. That said, I told our host in the morning and both issues were taken care of by the time we came back to the hotel that evening Also, high marks to our gracious and friendly host Case ( not sure of the spelling) who was a pleasure to talk with!
The historic monastery building, the staff, the breakfast, and scenic location.

United KingdomThe interest/disinterest of the receptionist (Bienvenue) on our arrival. He was rude and used his phone on a personal phone call the whole time he was serving. In addition as we were checking in, he stopped attending to us to take money for bar service from another client who arrived at the desk after us. Disappointing in an otherwise pleasant stay.
Location, excellent. Breakfast, excellent as always. Overall a good place to break our journey home. Our 4th visit and we will likely come again

United StatesStaying in a place of great history. Staff was amazing in helping get restaurant reservations each night and were spot on as to where they sent us. Very good dinners! Rooms were comfortable, quiet, and clean. Rooms do need updating and hotel states that they will start happening in the near future. Stay nice stay!

United StatesBreakfast was wonderful: lots of locally made baked goods and condiments. The facility itself is quirky. Some would object to its imperfections (eg having lavatory on different level from bed, necessitated by the room having been a monk's narrow-but-tall cell centuries ago) but we loved them. As a bonus, hosts spoke excellent English and there was safe storage for our bicycles.

United KingdomIf you have the sense to contextualise your stay - in an ancient building that is gradually being restored there is nothing not to like!
The location was very good - it is part of the Medieval City. The staff could not have been more helpful and were all charming. The hotel is a lesson in history and a one off experience not to be missed. We felt privileged to stay somewhere with such a long and interesting history. The views of The Loire from the Privilege rooms are simply stunning - and worth the extra few €’s.

SwitzerlandBreakfast was ok but not exceptional. Pillows were a bit unusual. A traditional 4 set would be preferred over the bolster pillow plus 2 pillows style. Extra pillows would be welcome too so that people can match their preferred type. It was perfect for 1 night for us but I wouldn't want to do a long stay.
Lovely old Abby. Friendly staff. Superb location. We stayed in a duplex family room. Lot's of fun. Comfortable main bed, however the secondary bed was a bit soft. All in all ideal for 1 night or max 2. The children loved it. Probably the best location in the town. Pet friendly too. Very happy overall, thank you.

United StatesThe rooms get hot at night and the hotel could at least provide fans. We had to open the windows but the road was noisy and there is a busy bar next to the hotel which stays open until very late. Also the mattress and pillows could be a little less Franciscan.
Beautiful location. Spectacular property with middle age character and charm and amazing views of the Loire. The staff was fantastic, especially Bienvenue, whose smiley and happy disposition is as welcoming as his name. The breakfast is amazing and to have it overlooking the Loire is something unforgettable. Unfortunately the restaurant has been closed for a while for lack of a chef, but we had an amazing dinner at a restaurant within 5 minutes walk from the hotel, called Le P’tit Bateau, run by the Chef and owner and his wife.

AustraliaI did not appreciate the hidden $ 20 Euro fee when requesting a twin share room, given the exchange rate that bumped the cost of the room into a new category, and at that cost I may well have selected to stay elsewhere, I hate sneaky charges!
