Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStill thinking! I guess the village was a little touristy but that was priced in before we booked. In any case, before 10.00 am and after 5.00 pm the village was very quiet and peaceful, allowing one to browse the shops at leisure.
I inadvertently booked a room with a bath and no shower unit which was not ideal for my wife or me given that we both had had relatively new hips! Without any fuss, the proprietor up-graded us for the following two nights to a splendid room (Louis X1V) overlooking the very quiet square and with a shower in which we could swing two cats! The breakfast was more than adequate and the whole ambience was so wonderfully French.

AustraliaTry not to arrive on a Sunday like we did - bollards prevent you driving your car up to the hotel to drop off luggage. The parking areas for the town are all only about 250 m away
Loved everything about it. The staff were friendly, and helpful. Rooms were magical with comfy beds and beautifully appointed. Breakfast was yum! Walking distance to all the incredible sites this town has to offer, being right in the middle of it all

GreeceIncredibly rude lady at the restaurant's reception. We arrived at the hotel at 20:30 and some people were waiting to be seated at the hotel's restaurant (it shares the entrance with the hotel). Although the lady saw us carrying our luggage, she completely ignored us, and when we told her that we wanted to check-in, she denied, told us to wait, and claimed that we should have arrived before 17:30! (The hotel had texted us to arrive before 17:30 and we had texted back that it was impossible since our flight to Nantes was due to land at 18:30). Forunately, another lady came by, really polite and helpful, and showed us to our room.
Perfect location, really spacious and nicely decorated room with awesome view, marvelous breakfast. Helpful and kind staff except for one lady at the restaurant's reception.

Hong KongFloor boards creaked in the upstairs room as the people walked about. Steps were slippery when wet.
Nice old building with character. Bedrooms were a big size. Very big shower in the room we had. Reasonable breakfast. Located in the centre of the village.

United StatesWe liked everything
The building is stunning, especially on the outside. It is in the very center of the most beautiful, charming part of Rochefort en Terre, it seems to be the center of the night life of the village. It's an extremely photogenic town and building inside and out. Everyone who works there is very friendly and accommodating. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, fast, and reasonably priced. The servers were very polite and helpful. The bed and bedding are comfortable. The shower is newer and runs well. The room is really big, with plenty of room to move around, a sitting area, a wardrobe to hang your clothes. We had our windows wide open all night because we are used to cool temperatures. It was very pleasant with them open. The view from the Louis XIV room is so pretty. The room is very quiet with the windows closed, with them open you will, of course, hear people outside. But everyone was silent by 11pm. And we slept well. It's a charming place and walking through the village both during the day and night is magical. We loved it.

IrelandOld world, authentic yet quirky and cool! Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good, everything one needed. We stayed for one night and had both lunch and dinner out in the back garden, both meals were lovely. Welcome drink was a nice touch! Garden is terraced which adds to the beautiful setting but not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Stairs also to room could prove difficult. Lovely bath in bathroom. Both bedroom and bathroom were big size. A truly fabulous place to stay! Thank you

A very beautiful ancient building with tasteful period furniture and yet a modern bathroom. An excellent restaurant with large outside dining and of course inside if necessary. Delicious continental breakfast with freshly pressed orange juice, fresh pastries and their signature pancakes. Delightful service by all. The access to the rooms is a bit challenging . The hotel is in the heart of the prettiest village in Europe.

EgyptEverything was great.
The room far exceeded my expectations and was a steal for the price. It was like staying in an historic castle with a massive fireplace. The food in their restaurant was some of the best that I had in France. And the village is very cute.

United KingdomNothing about the hotel. Not a criticism of the hotel (and inevitable given the village setting). Entering the village to drop off suitcases can be interesting and car parking is about 300 yards away and costs about £5 a night.
Rochfort is a great place to stay as it is beautiful and has plenty of places to eat and things to do. Staying at the La Tour du Lion puts you at the authentic heart of the village. Food was very good and the staff were really friendly. Be aware this is not a Premier Inn. The stairs up to some rooms are very steep and you may have a roll top bath rather than a shower. This is part of the experience of staying in a very old property and for me adds something. Recommend visiting Vannes about 45 minutes drive

The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The room was exceptionally beautiful with a private courtyard and separate entrance( we were in room 1). The location was perfect for traveling and exploring the area and the town itself was so beautiful. So many little stores, castle and restaurants to explore. The food at the hotel was delicious. We had the galette twice and both times the dinner, service and environment was amazing. We ate in the upper garden with roses and trees surrounding our table. We loved every minute of our stay at this magical hotel.
