Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe wifi was a big disappointment. If you are here for work or need the internet for any important reason, you will struggle. Apparently, there is no fiber option yet, but there are also at least two apartments connected to the same wifi (ours was on an extension) so it wasn't quite strong enough at times to do even basic things like load our email. If the hosts can improve this we would definitely be giving our stay a 10!
We had an amazing stay here and would definitely come back if possible. The loft was roomy and comfortable for our family and we had a baby bed and high chair provided for our 17mo. Everything we needed was there for cooking, relaxing, washing clothes, etc. Niyada was extremely responsive and helpful for anything that we needed. As others have said, the apartment is right on a major courtyard frequented by tourists, but it is still somehow quiet. We were there during the off-season and can't attest to summer, however.

United StatesNOTHING! It was perfect!
What a wonderful apartment! The location is absolutely perfect in a quiet courtyard with scenic views of this beautiful city from all the windows. The BEST was our host! She went out of her way to meet us, help us with early morning transportation to the trains station, anticipate and meet every need. We could LIVE here!

New ZealandThis was a great location, just on the inside of the old city - walking distance for great local restaurants - awesome. It's a loft space, so expect stairs, but once you are up there, it's all goodness. The view from the toilet is fun - overlooking the unused courtyard of the nextdoor church. The churchbells were a wonderful alarm. There were three of us and it was good space for our purpose and it had everything we needed. We never found the free parking place, but were lucky to be there over a weekend and parking was free in the carpark around the corner after a certain hour, and we just paid for the times we needed to. Mostly went out on day trips, so it worked out well for us. The greeting host was super lovely.

South AfricaAlthough the apartment is situated on a lovely square it was very noisy at night. The restaurant staff across from the apartment partied until the early hours.
Lovely lady who met us to hand over keys went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. She also arranged a transfer for us to the train station. This apartment is very spacious and has incredible architecture. The curved wooden beams are magnificent and take you back in time. The apartment is adjoining the chapel and the view from the toilet cubicle of the chapel and its spire is magical. You may also observe the church bells being rung while you are in the bathroom, what an awesome experience!!!

United StatesMy phone GPS failed us in Sarlat. I would suggest navigating to the nearest parking lot. You can park free an hour while you check in and unload your baggage and it is a very short walk. After that there is a nearby free parking lot.
It was the perfect location and very spacious. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Restaurants and food shops are within walking distance and the market is amazing. Niyada was available for any questions or problems we had. We definitely recommend it.

United StatesWe had not realized they were sending a man to pick us up (vs the name we had been given). In fairness, they had tried to inform us of this change but we were limited to email communication in Europe. This was a minor issue because the driver they sent was very friendly and helpful. He seemed to sub in for the main rep when she was busy. Instructions for accessing the trash bin (that we were to use) were a little vague, and some days when we went there, it had been removed, so we had to hunt around for a place to leave our trash. There was information provided on what to recycle but not where to bring our recycling. That would have been helpful, as well as some brief backgound/history on the building itself. These issues were VERY minor. We would return to Le Grenier du Chapitre in a heartbeat. Thank you for sharing your magical spot with lucky visitors like us!
Hotel sent driver to get us at the train station (at my request, for a modest cost). Then property rep was waiting to give us the keys and explain all details. She was super friendly and helpful. Very generous in responding to our many questions. The unit itself was very special. The ceiling supports were striking. The apartment was very well organized and stocked, so we had everything one might need for an extended stay. The styling was on point and we had access to all modern conveniences (i.e., clothes washer, AC, TV, wifi). There was no actual oven, but a stovetop, microwave and toaster oven. All utensils, plates and glassware, pots and pans, even most condiments/sugar/oil, etc. Really convenient. As was the location, near scores of restaurants, the tourist office, the market, historic sites, shops, etc. (Don't miss the beautiful municipal garden just outside the old town border. ) The unit offered privacy and solitude. We initially worried there might be noise below the apartment, because there are several restaurants in the courtyard. They posed no problem though, as they closed early. Instead, the courtyard brought us beautiful cello music, the sounds of church bells and the cooing of doves...

United StatesThere is often music in the courtyard in the afternoons and evenings. Sometimes it seemed that the musicians were right there in the loft with us. Since it was summer, when we got tired of the music, we turned the air conditioner on as we needed it in the evenings.
The location could not have been better. It was a 3-4 minute walk to two small grocery stores. The area was overflowing with restaurants and shops. The owners had thought of everything needed for a comfortable stay. We did a lot of our own cooking to take advantage of the fresh vegetables from the market and the only thing we ever wished for was an oven mitt! And, to top it off, the bed was the most comfortable ever!

United StatesParking is difficult in Sarlat - it is several blocks away. Owner could supply toiletries -we had to go to the market to buy these things. We had some difficulties with the air conditioner in the bedroom - we had to tape the duct.
Amazing location was great in the center of town. One bedroom apartment was spacious and an excellent value. It was tastefully decorated. Bathroom was large and efficient. Property manager was easy to deal with and helpful.

CanadaThe windy staircase to access your unit is cute but not made for people with large feet. It is a little slippery need to be careful and it’s not wide. The bedroom air condition venting does not stay connected, needs fixing.
Spacious and well situated within a local square. The bedroom is spacious, the bathroom as well. The kitchen has a comfortable dining table and chairs, and the living room has a nice sofa bed which we used as a couch.

We have been travelling in France for over a month, and this was our favorite stay. Very clean, modern apartment in a historical building. Big, bright windows open over the cathedral one side, and on the other over a quiet courtyard, steps from the pedestrian thoroughfare. We stayed over Ascension Thursday holiday, and were treated to live music from the courtyard drifting up through the windows for three nights.. The apartment has well equipped kitchen, separate bed and bath chambers, washing machine, and comfortable furniture throughout. It is very clean, with plenty of hot water We rented the one bedroom apartment. Our neighbors above made similar comments on the loft. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Mark and Jean
