The elevator door closes with a big bang ; could be rectified. The exhaust fan in the toilet made a lot of noise (rather eerie & disturbing) .

Big and comfortable room with a decent bathroom. Garden view from window. Ample space in room with a cupboard and a writing table. Quiet at night. Good breakfast options. Helpful staff. Grand 12th century manor well maintained and equipped with all modern facilities. Well manicured lawns too.

They need to think about business travelers we need somewhere to work

The room very spacious, however, lacked a writing desk and well positioned power sockets. Plently of parking and easy access. Large grounds so you can go for a walk.

Only got lost once trying to find room. It's an unusual layout. Would have liked to spend time in the grande entrance lounge, lazing with a book, drink, and log fire. However, each day it was busy with a wedding. I do appreciate this would be a fabulous venue for such an event.

The location was stunning, and I would love to return in the summer to see the garden in colour. This would add to the grandness of the setting. Inside the adaption to a hotel was tasteful and sensitive, the rooms had the height and elegance of a grand hotel. The windows seat in our room added to its charm. Initially, the access to the restaurant was unusual, crossing the courtyard, but soon realised this was a necessity for the stables and hall to be kept true to their architectural original plan.

The lift door on the first floor could be difficult to open when in the lift, and as we normally travel with our scottie dog,the hotel becoming dog friendly would mean we could come again.

Staff, hotel and grounds, and closeness to Beamish Museum were excellent.

Problems with the wardrobe door which the hotel were aware of, but we were still allocated the room. Doors were removed on the following day after more problems. Bar ran out of bitter early on Wednesday evening with no alternative to offer. Requests for condiments had to be repeated and items not required with the meal were still served.

Location. Very near to the outdoor museum which was the reason for the visit

The bed was just too small for us as my husband is 6ft 2”In hindsight, we should have asked for a room that had a king size bed as a minimum. It wasn’t very comfortable.

We love the hotel and the grounds and the rooms are well presented, clean and have all the facilities we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the Stables restaurant serves the best food.

The stables bar area wasn’t big enough as we was wanting to sit & have a few drinks in the bar before our meal but there were no seats available so had to sit in reception until it was time for our meal. Could do with a small bar in the reception area or tea/coffee option.

The breakfast was lovely great choice

Although there was a note saying that there were the usual things you would expect to find in the room, like a disposable shower cap, available from reception that was no use when reception was miles away along a maze of corridors. I got lost several times following signs that didn't lead to reception despite promising they would. The one thing I was really unhappy about though was that my breakfast plate was whipped away while my mouth was still full of food. A bit too keen in my view.

Room was clean, warm and comfortable if a little dated. Restaurant was very good and portion sizes generous so very good value for money. Breakfast choices were good. I very much enjoyed my breakfast on a stottie.

We felt that the food in the Stables did not match the grandeur of the hotel. The menu was mainly pub grub - okay but nothing special. Definitely no fine dining. The Stables also seemed to be the only place to get drinks. Staff very welcoming. Whilst I could appreciate that the room’s decor was shabby chic, I think more care could be given to cleaning the ornamentation on the furniture. There was no information in the room, either on the history of the Hall, the facilities on offer or any health and safety guidelines.

We went for our 45th wedding anniversary. Stayed in Lily. Room very pleasant and spacious. Bathroom very clean. There was a wedding on which we did not hear except when the guests had conversations outside our bedroom door/top of the stairs. The hotel has old world charm but a lot of downstairs rooms appeared to be out of bounds with doors firmly shut. Didn’t appear to be anywhere to get a drink and make use of the chesterfield sofas in the reception.
