    Everything was perfect!

Euan and Emma were the perfect hosts and made our stay feel like a gathering with friends rather than at a hotel. The accommodation was comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The home cooked food by Euan was delicious. Thank you both!

    Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful small hotel on the North Coast 500, perfectly located at the Gill's Bay ferry to Orkney. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, the food is fabulous and the owners, Emma & Euan are really great hosts and lovely people.

    Having to go

Super clean, our room was a good size and beautiful bathroom, the bar served some local bottled beers and spirits which were great to try, especially the whiskey rack.. Top chef cooked us a great meal and breakfast, my tatitie scone was perfect.. We had a great stay and a lovely welcome thank you Ewan and Emma

    Nothing, all good.

Breakfast was excellent. Choice and quality of the dinner menu also excellent. The owners were extremely friendly and full of information including gin recommendations (!) and helping us book a day trip to Orkney (well worth it but needs more than a day to do it justice).

    Everything was lovely.

Had a fantastic evening at The Mey Hotel, from the minute we arrived we felt very welcomed. Emma & Euan were fantastic hosts and enjoyed our time with them. Little details like a welcome drink and chocolate in our room were very much appreciated. Room was lovely and clean and the food was great.

The owners were warm and inviting. We had a lovely pop up dinner with a guest chef that was great! Breakfast was also delicious and well prepared. Our room was cozy and we were near the seastacks at John o’groats as well as the catamaran ferry to Orkney. Great location, cozy atmosphere and relaxed vibe!

    Nothing!

Located along the north coast, it’s a great spot for exploring. There’s a very personal touch with this hotel, and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, as was the evening meal. We sat in the lounge in front of the fire in the afternoon and enjoyed the ambiance of a very tastefully decorated room. Thanks for such a lovely stay.

    I had no complaints.

Nice, cosy hotel with a fine pub with local whiskies and log fire. Excellent Scottish and other dishes available in the restaurant. Perfect and hospitable hosts, kind and very informative about sights and attractions in the neighborhood.

The dinner we had at the restaurant was delicious and hearty but it would be nice to have even more vegetarian choices if staying for more nights. Still we were pleasantly surprised and would eat there again!

The room was very spacious, clean, warm and comfortable. We found the decor quite quirky and cute. I think we were upgraded to the suite which was very kind of the staff. The atmosphere downstairs at the restaurant is very cozy, with a fire, tartan, traditional decor and Scottish wildlife theme. We had lovely breakfast, dinner and drinks at the restaurant. We were half an hour late for breakfast and the hosts were kind enough to keep it warm for us. Location is great for visiting Dunnet Head! All in all we had a great time at The Mey Hotel and we would definitely choose them again.

Minor niggle about poor wifi in some of the courtyard rooms opposite the main building.

We were lucky enough to hit a special offer of a tasting menu by renowned local cook Chris Duckham of Cote du Nord, which I gather the hotel intends to make a regular feature. The meal was superb and made a great way to celebrate finishing Lands End to John O'Groats. Euan and Emma, the hotel owners are enthusiasts and made us very welcome. Rooms comfortable and well equipped.

A small privately owned hotel which didn’t look much from the outside but a fabulous welcome and cosy lounge/dining area. The home cooked food was excellent and we were made to feel really welcome. The rooms were modern and very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Loved that it felt like meeting old friends, and the welcome tipple in the room was a fantastic idea. The room and bathroom were a great size and immaculate. Breakfast is ordered the previous night with time to suit us, meaning it was prepared for us once ready, excellent products used. This includes local gins and beers at the bar. We would not hesitate to come back, our only wish would be that we should have stayed longer.
