How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Very, very minor quibble, the lighting was lovely except for when you need to apply makeup. Could do with a brighter light option in the bathroom maybe or a makeup mirror with LED light surround?
I was incredibly lucky and had my room upgraded to a suite (Cristal). Everything was fantastic. The room is the best I’ve stayed in. Definitely worth the extra for a special occasion. The bathroom was divine. I could have stayed in the shower all day! Breakfast was lovely. The staff were very helpful. Good location, especially if you’re going by train.

Bathroom not very clean. Paying 15 per night to park in an area located at back of hotel was excessive. Two members of staff heard being disrespectful to guests.
Lovely hotel, beautiful decor. Majority of staff polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious.

I thought the price included breakfast but it didn't but that was my own fault for presuming. Breakfast was in my opinion a little overpriced but was nice.
Very nice hotel, good location just a few minutes walk from the City centre. Got an upgrade to a suite which was a really nice touch. Food in restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced had the Taster menu.

The Penfold suite was the most beautiful room we've ever stayed in. So palatial and luxurious, and beautifully decorated! With a huge stunning en suite! Just Lovely, really couldn't fault it. Highly recommended.

Apart from the lovely lady on reception smiles and interactions with staff members were few and far between, maybe something to do with the wedding fair taking place or just a long week? It’s personal taste I guess but I didn’t like the decor or ambiance in the restaurant! It lacked the style and elegance it deserves and found everywhere else in this building.
We did pay for an upgrade to a deluxe room which the lovely lady on reception made happen for us. The bedroom and bathroom were absolutely fantastic. Thank you

The bathroom was too small. The loo was awkwardly placed and the shower was a bit old fashioned. We didn't get the full experience of the restaurant and the bar because a wedding occupied most of the hotel for one of our two nights, and it would have been good to have been forewarned, but the alternative location of the restaurant when we found it was fine and the food was excellent.
Breakfast was great. The room was comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were grateful to have a quiet room on a very busy evening in the hotel.

Facilities in the room were not designed for people in their late 70's. Roll top bath, no grab handles, shower no grab handles. Easy to slip and cause a problem. Toilet had no hand basin so you had to leave the toilet to wash your hands.

I booked a deluxe room but we was surprised when we entered our room as it was the best suite what the hotel offers. We loved the double roll top bath's and the massive bed!
