How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Parking- shouldnt have to pay
Price is great for a weekday but not reasonable for a weekend compared to similar priced hotels in the area. Overall great place to stay. I will book plenty more but as stated, value only worth it during the week.

An improvement in the dining area would be more comfortable chairs with cushioned seating so guests can linger longer and enjoy the relaxed vibe of this very pleasant hotel.
I stayed at this hotel in Honiton with a couple of friends who had visited it in the past and recommended it to me. The reception and bar staff were very welcoming and helpful, especially when I encountered a problem with the TV in my room, which was fixed quickly and efficiently. We all liked the fact that the hotel offers guests the option of an evening supper menu, which was very good value and enjoyable after days out exploring the area. The guest rooms are very attractive, spacious and clean including a very good shower room. The large carpark was also a bonus. All in all we would highly recommend this hotel at Honiton.

I think the door hangar saying I was still in the room must have fallen off and someone put it back on the door the wrong way around to the side that said ready for housekeeping... Almost an awkward moment between me and the housekeeper!
I got upgraded to a super king without request which was very thoughtful and really appreciated. I was also provided with options of where I would prefer my room and if I had any additional requirements.

It would have been nice to have free parking and not need to prompt for it. Or Atleast have that cost covered in the booking.
We were upgraded, the room was very large and had everything we needed for a one night stay.

Breakfast wasn't great. Berries very sour. Not much variety. No Earl Grey tea.
Service was outstanding. Nikki in reception was super helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Nice quiet room. Lovely shower- high pressure and hot water. Everything very clean. Linen on bed was great. Excellent value for money.

Breakfast a little limited on choice of hot - never varied day to day in over a week. Perhaps grilled tomatoes and mushrooms might be offered additionally? Very limited evening meal menu, ok if you like fast food. Expensive restaurant next door. No marked walkways for pedestrians in the car park. Hotel used by many contractors' vans during the week with no designated provision for their larger vehicles in the car park, Mon-Thurs.
Excellent location, ideal for visiting Exeter Centre, Powderham Castle, Dawlish, Exmouth, or onward car journeys - N.S.E or W. Comfortable bed and surroundings. Staff were always friendly. The free car parking offered when we arrived was a bonus. Thank you.

No vegetarian sausages or hash browns at breakfast. The sofabed wasn’t very comfortable!
Really accommodating if taking a dog :) Ensured we had a ground floor as requested. Also made the sofabed up as requested. Let us take our small dog to breakfast with us.

See above . Also , it is unusual in our personal experience to have to pay for car parking
For what we paid , we did OK thanks . It was our fault that we did not know we could have an evening meal next door to the hotel . In stead we had a Pizza in the Hotel .

Think the parking could be cheaper for hotel residents as opposed to the general public parking
Excellent location just off the M5 and convenient for P&R into Exeter. There is a very good choice for breakfast

The hair on the wall of the shower. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows hard. Having to pay to park there. The room was a bit tired in places.
It was very convenient for our stay. An iron and ironing board in the room. The breakfast was good. Nice big shower.

Breakfast is a little chaotic with the streams of people and it would be great to have a few more plant milks, plant yoghurts and gluten free options for breakfast.
Very friendly and professional staff. Quick check-in. The hotel is basic but very comfortable and has what you need for a short stay.
