Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSome town centre late night out side noise as was weekend
Hotel decor slightly faded and refurb work happening whilst there. This was unobtrusive and did not impact our good experience. The hotel reception staff are all excellent ambassadors for the Hermitage ,particularly Ali! Their welcoming pleasant, informative presence is a credit to the hotel, All waiting, bar staff etc most pleasant and helpful. Breakfast and Sunday lunch was top notch in every way! Ignore the slightly faded image as this is being improved, Location for town centre is great,All the points I have just mentioned have us a most enjoyable 3night stay . Will visit again later this year

United KingdomParking on site was a priority. There was no mention of a £14 a day charge until AFTER I had booked 'non-refundable' accommodation - we would have stayed further out from the Seafront had I known prior to booking..... apparently if you book with the hotel direct there is no charge for parking!! The staff were all pleasant but the service was very hit and miss. I chose to have a dessert whilst in the Bar area and was presented with a knife and fork instead of a spoon!! Newspapers were requested for each day of our stay but only arrived on the first morning.. We were asked at Reception to book a time for dinner but our reservation was missing on arrival at the Restaurant. I know we booked a small double which was more than adequate but I was not expecting a dingy view of the fire escape! The Bathroom was clean and nicely decorated however the cistern handle was loose as was the Shower Holder
Breakfast - there was a good choice both hot/cold and vegan Bed with a firm mattress - very comfortable with a choice of pillows Free Wifi - had a good coverage Lounge Area - Light, Bright and welcoming Reception - Warm welcome Right next door to NEO restaurant which is superb. Great food and great service.

United KingdomThe hotel is in the middle of an extensive refurbishment. This did not detract from our stay. However, as we were in one of the unmodernised rooms, it is very tired. The room itself was large but the bathroom was small, with a shower over the bath. And just generally a bit dated. We look forward to returning to one of the modernised rooms when they are completed.
The location is great - especially when visiting the BIC or The Pavillion. There is ample parking and the staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The bedroom was large (with a view of the sea).

United KingdomThe property advertised that it was pet friendly. Although they did allow our dog. They had incredibly strict rules of not allowing the dog to be unattended in the room even though we had a crate for our dog (which made activities minimal has having to bring the dog everywhere) We have been to previous hotels which have been pet friendly and they showed this from the moment you stepped into the hotel. e.g having a dog station with the essentials such as water/ water bowl, poo bags, treats and even an information leaflet on the best places to walk the dog as well as emergency vet locations. This isn’t something that we received at the Hermitage. There was a massive feeling of reluctancy of having our dog from the moment we stepped into the hotel.
Location was fantastic. All the staff were friendly. The room was amazing. Parking was good.

United KingdomDidn't realise there was a parking fee. Advised if i had booked through the hotel direct the rates would have been lower and no parking fee. Dinner was terrible. Surcharge for steak which was dry and tough. Fish was overdone. Renovations carried out but not advised on reception when checking in. No hot water one afternoon due to renovations. No offer of a partial refund for this either
Location was good and the room was comfotable. Breakfast excellent. Staff very pleasant and helpful

United KingdomThe parking area was tight, limited in number of spaces and it was frustrating to have to pay £14 to park on top of the cost of the room. The shower in our room was poor and difficult to get a reasonable temperature for the water. The bed was a small double and the mattress was bouncy. Felt unstable on the edge of the mattress and likely to fall off.
The staff were very professional and clearly well trained.
