Brilliant staff and super clean room Room service provided everyday and extremely responsive and helpful staff. Not too far from the city centre, if you are planning a trip to Edinburgh this is must stay!

No parking available despite stating free parking stated on booking.com website. On street paid parking available. Can hear other guests though to be expected in style of property and depends on other guests.

Decent room for the price. Nice hosts. Upgrade to room with ensuite.

Cosy guesthouse at the charming heart of Bruntsfield, an adorable part of Edinburgh. Close to small, vibrant boutiques and bars and just some minutes away from the city center.

Tea/coffee tray could do with being updated. Kettle had to boil on the floor as that was the only place the plug reached a socket.

Great base for exploring Edinburgh. Rooms are very dated but clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

There was a noise from boiler and there was a smell in the room, but these both are bearable, slept well

Not expensive but i booked it last minute so not big expectations. The location is not bad, walking to castle is like half an hour but you can take the bus, it's like couple of minutes from bus station.

Honestly the only thing we had trouble with was the WiFi. It was slow.

No lifts.Our room was at second floor. So with heavy luggage it's a painful experience. Room no 6 has slanting roof on one side. One needs to be extra careful.

It's a quiet and cosy place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nice and clean.

When I stayed at Menzies it was all quite lovely, despite one of the bedside lamps not working. The bathroom for our room was private to our room but we had to accesss it through the hallway, this was not a problem though as we felt like it gave an authentic feel to the house and its history - but it is nice to be aware of :) The only way of airing the room was to open the window, but it was still difficult to cool down as there were no ventilation other than that one window. I wish there would be a fan or mini air conditioner in the room as it became quite hot both day and night.

I would definitely recommend staying at Menzies! Me and my family of 3 stayed early summer at the guesthouse and we all agreed that it was a comfortable stay. The location is easy to get to from the centre of Edinburgh via bus, and a short 1 minute walk from the bus stop. We were greeted with smiles and the check in was easy. The room was big and spacious for us each to sleep on a twin bed each, but 3 single beds made it difficult to store our suitcases. Staff was very friendly and helped us out when we forgot the room key, and even contacted us on where to pick it up! Complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch and much needed after a long day of sightseeing! The interior was nice and clean at all times and there was no noise between the rooms. I absolutely loved the rose garden in front of the house, they were all in full bloom - very gorgeous!

Very warm room even with window fully open.

Staff were friendly, flexible and helpful. We arrived early and it wasn't a problem, we left on time but asked to leave luggage all day; again not a problem. Really refreshing. Room was basic but fine and price was less than feared in the middle of Fringe-season. Walkable distance into town past loads of nice breakfast cafes.

Close to city center and accessible by bus Place is neat and clean although the room I took had a shared bathroom. Easy to get in and out even if you arrive late at night, constantly in touch.
