Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was incredibly hot... Pretty stifling... This could be personal preference, the radiator was on full blast and even with the window wide open it was too warm.
The room was lovely and clean, the staff were fantastic.

United KingdomUnfortunately, the food on the Abba night wasn't great. I didn't have high expectations for it being listed as a buffet. Rather than run it trying to feed everyone at once, table by table, I'd suggest down grading it to nibbles/canapes and have it run all evening, then there's no rush to try serve everyone a hot meal, which appeared to be a bit of a struggle. Any larger people who want a full meal (there were several with mountainous plateloads) should eat before. This all said, we had a ball, it didn't spoil our night, but aware there was some moaning about the cost of ticket vs. food. Personally, I was there for the music, it didn't disappoint on that aspect.
The feature Abba night was great fun with disco to finish the night off! As always, impeccable service and staff. Well run bar. The Suites are so worth the extra money if you're staying here.

United KingdomRoof top view and no easy chair. Not an issue for our weekend stay in a standard room.
Amazing choice of food for breakfast. A range of meals were available for evening meal and there was also a Sunday carvery had we wanted this. Our standard room was clean and comfortable ideal for weekend. Very friendly and helpful staff who phoned to say they'd found some medication when cleaning our room (although it wasn't ours and we never saw it!)

United KingdomThe main lights in our room kept flickering, and everything seemed out of reach in the bathroom! There was a smell of drains in the bathroom of one of our rooms.
Breakfast and dinner were excellent, with a good range of choices. Several people in our party are vegan, and they were catered for very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge for complimentary tea and coffee together.

United KingdomThe room when I retired for the night was impeccably presented My only gripe of the stay was that there must have been a water header tank above my room ( 8) I think, and unfortunately the infill ballcock wasn’t working and resulted in a drip drip drip drip
The hotel staff were very welcoming and the meal we had in the Jacobean pub/ restaurant was excellent and the breakfast the following morning was to die for.

United KingdomWaiting staff in the restaurant were at times very busy and as a result not attentive. After 30 minutes we stopped one of the waiters as he rushed past, to take our food order. At breakfast, which was very quiet, only 2 tables occupied, I stood waiting to be seated (as per the sign on entry,) for 5 minutes before helping myself. The restaurant was left unattended for at least 10 minutes. When the young waitress did arrive she took my order and thankfully the food did not take long to arrive. Obviously not the end of world, just providing honest feedback. I have been fortunate to stay in countless hotels in the UK and worldwide and it's not often I have experienced being overlooked. Perhaps an extra staff member or a bell would help if other staff need to go off for any reason. I stayed in room 20. There was too much dark wood veneer for my liking, some of which did not match or line up with other units. The first glass I picked up was dirty. There was a wall light fitting poorly secured and balancing on a single loose screw. There's no way this would not have been known by housekeeping. The roller blind failed and could not be retracted. As I tried, with not much force, the whole mechanism fell out. Again, a possible longer term issue. The hinges on the door next to my bedroom need oiling! This hotel has the potential for a higher rating with a few minor improvements.
The food it the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was plentiful and of good quality, with good options. Obviously a very popular dining venue for locals, a good indicator. The setting is magnificent and no doubt a wonderful location for weddings and events. The external grounds, walkways, gardens, seating areas, car parks, masonry and lighting were immaculate and a real credit to the ground staff. Considering the miserable weather this winter, makes it all the more impressive. The night porter deserves special recognition; I met up with a family member that I had not seen for some time so we had a lot of catching up to do. We sat talking in the lounge long after the bar had closed. This young man checked on us regularly, seeing that we were ok for drinks. A real asset to the owners. The communal rooms (the lounge especially) were very impressively decorated and maintained. For such an old building everywhere was warm and inviting. I would not hesitate to return or recommend.

United KingdomMattress was solid as a rock. Maybe a Mattress topper would benefit. None of the battery operated lights in room were able to be used. And one light switch outside bathroom was not working guessing it was the bathroom fan as this did not work when shower was in use.
Food was very good, filling & ample portion size, catered well for my wife who advised of nut allergy. Hotel was lovely and clean. Staff were helpful and courteous at all times.
