How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything. Couldn't fault our stay. Lovely hosts Breakfast was spot on. Lovely room overlooking the park. Very clean. Comfy bed. Tea and coffee, biscuits and fresh fruit in the room. Great location .

Disappointed view over fire escape from our room. Parking was only on the road but hosts provided parking permits. Shower room had no heating so was cold in March, would have benefited from a heated towel rail.
Excellent breakfast, best cooked eggs ever. Friendly hosts. Comfortable bed and pillows. Harrogate is a good location for visiting both York and Knaresborough.

Absolutely nothing, or maybe if you are not so good on your legs the front entrance is a little steep.
Warm comfortable well presented room and lovely people running the B+B, breakfast excellent would Happily stay there again.

It was a room with a view beautiful big bay window the bed was very comfy everything you needed breakfast was to die for plenty to eat was in a great location and great views of valley park great view of new years fireworks

The shower could have been a little more powerful but didn’t impact on our stay.
The size and cleanliness of the room, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast choice was good and well cooked. Location is very close to the centre but quiet during the night.

Hoteliers were lovely, unfortunately we could not sample the breakfasts due to unforseen circumstances. Rooms a great size for a few nights stop over. Easily accessible to town centre.

There isn't anything we didn't like!!
We liked everything about the Dales, Chris is a great host, location is wonderful as it's so close to the Town Centre, rooms are very comfortable all round its a great place to stay! We'll definitely be back!

It was a wonderful stay. Chris ,our host was polite, thoughtful and caring. Our room was at the front of the property and it was overlooking the beautiful Valley garden. It was very easy to find and the town centre was at walking distance. Room was exceptionally clean. We had number of breakfast choices and food was delicious. My husband and I highly recommend the Dales.

Didn't not like anything!
The lady who ran the dales was warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The property was just opposite the valley gardens so we were able to spend time there.

Stairs, nothing the owners can do about that. Could have done with larger towels and some shampoo. Sausages weren't great but not bad either. WiFi was poor. Again probably nothing the owners can do about that. We found WiFi quite poor in the area as a whole.
The room was bright, airy, clean and spacious. Shower room was immaculate. Towels were good quality Bed was comfy. Breakfast was plentiful with a great choice. Owner was welcoming, friendly and obliging.

The steps up to the front door. But this was a beautiful old building & therefore the steps were uneven.
I would highly recommend the breakfast. There was an excellent selection & freshly cooked to order.
