How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The staff were lovely - particular the young man who accommodated our late check-in request without any fuss. We even got a knock on the door in the morning to say that breakfast was closing!

The morning noise from traffic outside. We hadn’t realised quite how busy the road was & on a Friday morning there were refuse & bottle collections & heavy Lorry’s. The rooms are all facing the road. A small refrigerator would be nice to keep fresh milk & water (both complimentary) chilled.
The rooms were lovely, comfortable & decorated very tastefully with quality fixing, fittings & linen. Bayliss & Harding showcase all their products & the new updated products are lovely.

Bedroom fan quite noisy , oscillating ones would take up less room and are quieter. (thats being really picky)
Breakfast good. ITs set in the function room overlooking the patio if weather is good able to eat outside. The Fuzzy Duck has lots of character bar bedrooms everywhere .except for the function room that felt a bit sterile. (board room like)

The full English breakfast wasn’t very appetising. The sausage skins were very hard, mushrooms and mushrooms tasteless.
We have stayed in the area before and had been recommended to try the fuzzy duck for a meal which I’ve thought would be an ideal stop gap on our way to Hampshire, which we do frequently from Chester in Cheshire. We enjoyed the ambience, size of the property, friendly staff, the menu and delivery of the food was delicious and presented well.

There was a wedding during the day so we couldn’t use the bar but they didn’t contact us a few weeks in advance to let us know and recommended some other local pubs and restaurants.
Beautiful village location. Very attractive hotel. Warm welcome and comfortable stay. Very comfortable bed- the pillows were amazing. Extra touches like a coffee machine in the room. Impressive bathroom. Restaurant was excellent and food delicious. The breakfast was a real highlight!

So the Indian Runner room is a tiny bit small and it would be helpful to have a mini fridge to keep milk in. BUT, the staff were perfectly happy to provide an ice bucket and the milk was in a flask, so the problem was solved. Personally I'd prefer a firmer mattress. It should be noted that there are larger rooms, I'd go for the mandarin if I stayed again.
The staff are excellent and will do anything to help (and they are all really friendly) Food is excellent (great full English breakfast and the dinner menu was also really good !!) Would definitely stay here again !!

Could have done with some specific bins for poop bags. Tiny thing really.
This was the most gorgeous, cute, dog friendly place ever. The room was luxurious, the staff were wonderful, and the food (dinner and breakfast) was also amazing. Our dog was well catered for, and the garden was secure and big enough for a good sniff around.
