No staff on reception when we arrived on Saturday evening. Had to wait for the night reporter to return from getting his takeaway.

Beautifully decorated, very stylish. Loved how quirky it was.

No hairdryer, outside area for enjoying a little rest is very unkempt and uncomfortable. The room was fine but very hot.

Property is on a good bus route for getting to city center.

Shower was hardly draining and rooms were quite hot.

Breakfast and location were both excellent. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Also, the property has a very interesting interior decor, even a bit funny.

Every morning the smell of burned sausages and bacon would come up to the room from the kitchen. There is nothing more unpleasant than waking up to such a smell coming into your room. Hotel should invest in good ventilation in the kitchen so that the entire hotel and the bedrooms don't smell like sausages and bacon every morning from 7 AM onwards. It is very unpleasant.

The room was very nice, but the people at the reception often socialize with the rest of the staff and are not always attentive to hotel guests. The check in was not very smooth. A bit more professionalism would be good.

One of the taps in the sink (hot water) didn't work. Bidet had virtually no water pressure. Could hear through walls.

It was a very pleasant room. Comfortable and well sized.

We slept well but there was some banging in the morning - probably the fire doors.

Hotel with great character - playful, tasteful and cosy interior. Dramatic wall colours, books and art everywhere. We felt immediately comfortable being there. Friendly helpful staff. Reasonably priced breakfast in a super dining room.

Serious roof leak in the breakfast area meant a section was out of action because it was raining and the floor was very wet. Two bath sheets but no bath mat or hand towels in the bathroom so I felt guilty using a bath sheet as a bath mat. For some unknown reason the corridor was closed off with masking tape right by my bedroom door which I found rather disconcerting. It was blocked off by a very large painting. No idea why they were doing that when the hotel was full. Design of bathroom meant towel rail gets very wet when you’re in the shower. Sad decaying dried flowers in vases on tables which meant the surfaces of the tables could not be used without moving to the floor. There were lots of dying plants in the public area and quite a few cobwebs. My friend’s room above had a three bulb chandelier, but only one of the bulbs working, she also had no hand towels or bath mat, and an array of desiccated, dusty flowers. Her room had not been touched on the 2nd day so on the way out to dinner we asked when it would be done and after consulting a spreadsheet we were told it had been! We explained that it hadn’t only to be reassured that it had been ticked off the spreadsheet! So, my friend asked if she could have a bath mat and hand towel as she didn’t have those in her room from the previous day. The receptionist nipped off & got them her, and I waited while my friend returned to her room with them, might’ve been better if they’d nipped them into the room for her!

Hotel is on the main Banbury Road, despite the traffic it is not a noisy place to stay. Although, as a converted Victorian house, you can hear people moving around and the plumbing working. This wasn’t a problem for us because we rose by eight and the house was quiet by 10 pm. The breakfast was good value at £10 with a great selection of fresh fruits, bread and the usual croissants and stuff. Housekeeping was in my room when we returned from a busy day at 5.10pm, changing the sheets, which was great but surprising as I’d only slept in them once. Small free carpark round the back with a bit of a tight entrance, which is very useful if you’re coming by Car as it’s not cheap to park in Oxford. There is an excellent bus service on the Banbury Road with lots of choices all taking you into the town centre. Currently there is a £2 ride scheme so it’s great value too. Certainly a fun place to stay and you have a great welcome.

The lift was not very clean and made some worrying sounds but did the job.

On the map it looked like it's far from the center but it's not really and it saves a lot of money. Nice coffee shops and restaurants around.

The bathroom has no lockable door, also it was glass door and has big gaps. The room was too small without a fridge.

I liked design, and breakfast. The staff was responsive.

Newly painted room, with heavily potent fumes. Unfortunately, after raising concerns with staff, no action was taken throughout my two-night stay. I expected greater efforts to try and make my stay more comfortable.
