Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe food was good but not good enough to justify the cost, it was very expensive. There was a terrible noise when we, or the room above used the shower?
Relaxed, friendly and felt extremely well looked after. We enjoyed our stay apart from the 2 points above.

United KingdomIt would be better to have tea and coffee for each room or have them available in the communal area so that we don’t have to bother the stuff each time we wanted to drink something x
Great room, super friendly stuff, very nice food, the portion was larger than we thought. Nice lounging area, very good interior. Nice little touches too like boots and rain coats. One of the best stays we had.

United KingdomHaving no coffee or tea making facilities in the room was odd. You had to go into the main hotel to get your coffee hit pre breakfast.
The food was exceptional! The first day the service was really friendly but slow, the 2nd day it speeded up. The morning yoga was a highlight and the instructors great!

United KingdomWe had so me real trouble finding the hotel even with use of sat navs and google maps, however the staff were excellent in finding us a mile away in a car park (!), and drove us to the hotel by guiding us there in their own car, which we followed. Thankyou for that, and free drinks for us was a very nice touch.
Breakfast was excellent

United KingdomOur only issue was a side order which came with an ingreaient we'd asked to have omited. The staff again went out of their way to rectify the issue once we realised it.
Always a luxury experience at the Gallivant. From the moment you enter until check out time the staff are on hand to cater for your every need. The ambiance is cosy yet sofisticated, think the Ivy by the sea. The food is always seasonal and localy sourced and meets the highest standards. The rooms are comfortable and clean and it's adults only so its peaceful and relaxing. We have a little dog and he loves it too, being able to go to the beach and have him stay with us is a great treat for us all.

United KingdomThe breakfast was delicious, although personally I would prefer a normal cooked breakfast. The brioche buns just reminded me of McDonalds. 😬
I loved the cozy comfort of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff, and I loved the fact that food/drinks were sourced locally where possible. The food was consistently delicious and plentiful, and the menu for dinner was different, so was exciting. It was a really relaxing weekend by the sea. The beach was lovely, and I wish we had tried the afternoon fish n chips takeaway. Our room was perfect for us, I didn’t think it needed to be any bigger, we had everything in it that we could possibly need, coffee, tea, milk, fridge, dressing gowns, iron/iron board, toiletries… and it was so quiet. Not being a dog lover, I thought the fact the Gallivant allowed dogs would be bother to me, however, I hardly noticed they were there, which was a bonus. Happiness IS a place and I think the Gallivant IS it! I would definately visit again.

United KingdomOutside areas could do with a revamp given the price. I’ve stayed before, but first impression do count and the entrance really lets the hotel down.
Staff were amazing!! They went above and beyond to make me and my Dog feel comfortable. Breakfast was great. Nice atmosphere, generally across the hotel. Great location for beach walks.

United KingdomI anything, dinner was a bit too big. We went for the full gallivant experience, so would recommend putting some lighter food options or small portions on the menu for the lighter eater. But that would be my only ‘but’. As we loved our stay
Super friendly staff, nice decor, lovely many places to sit and relax, loved the oysters happy hour, the breakfast was fab, the morning yoga was so gentle I managed to get my partner to go, the rooms were cute, lovely bathroom. And all round a fabulous place to come relax

United KingdomThe heating hadn't been on for long so our room was cold. Our booking was last minute so not really their fault.
The Gallivant is a hidden gem of a hotel. Channelling a shabby beach chic it's the sort of place where you relax the minute you walk through the door. The bar has a great selection of English wine and dinner was excellent. Breakfast is delicious - worth the trip. Rooms are modest but comfortable and we loved the Bamford productions. We had to leave early otherwise I'd have taken part in the complimentary yoga class. Would thoroughly recommend.

United KingdomNo coffee machine in room … something one has come to expect at over £350 per night. Tiny shower head which, probably due to limescale, directed the water into single, solid and heavy jet of water.

United KingdomBreakfast was a disaster. It took an hour to just get a coffee. We were told that we couldn't place our breakfast order because the kitchen had too many orders already. What??? Dinner was a bit hit and miss. No logic to the chef bringing the main course plates, not the main course itself. Wine at five (don't call it wine o'clock or you'll be in trouble!), lovely idea but it'd be nice to have a choice. We were given rose. I hate rose. Not a fan of the two tier system. I understand it but especially at breakfast it'd be nice to be given the choice of ordering (and paying extra) for stuff from the full menu. Or in the evening, it wouldn't break the bank for everyone to get some bed time tea.
The best welcome we've ever received, in all our travels - thanks Nakita. Beautiful room, we were given an upgrade to one overlooking the gardens. Great location, the cleanest beach in the UK (in my opinion). You can grab a picnic rug from reception and order cocktails to take with you to the beach at sunset. Cake in the afternoon - heaven. I liked the water bottle system too, brilliant idea. Nice toiletries in the bathroom and big fluffy robes. Loved the decor and design, comfortable but chic.
