Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWorst thing was the grimy/dirty looking bathroom door. Some vaguely questionable things like old carpet, bed kinda lumpy, decor and furnishings a bit chipped/shabby. Its an old building and there were random unmarked steps and slopes we kept falling up/down! LOL! It was VERY basic, but to be honest we just needed somewhere to crash for 1 night after a wedding, so the towels, soap and clean bed made it perfectly ok.
The lady who let us in was nice and chatty. The bed sheets were obviously clean and the bed freshly made which was the most important thing! We had 2 large clean towels, a small amount of soap, 1.5 loo rolls, and tea and coffee making stuff. The curtains were dark so it wasn't full blast daylight at 5.30am, and the double glazing kept out a fair amount of town noise, plus the heating was working. Bathroom was pretty clean. Coat-hangers and mirror, quite a few plug sockets. It was a simple check in/out, and easy to get in when we got back late. I would probably stay there again.

United KingdomThere was no AC and the windows were rather small.
Room was cozy and quiet, while having very traditional English pub room vibes. Beautiful and unique looking room and not far from the train station (had to catch a very early flight at Stansted), only about a 10-15 minute walk.

PolandWould be nice if the tv was a more modern one, where you can watch Netflix etc., not only cable TV. The reception desk was almost always empty with a telephone number to call if you had an issue -- we called twice, on the first and second day, once we got through, and once no one picked up and never called back. There were only two small shampoo/body wash sachets in the bathroom, enough for one person, but hardly enough for two grown ups, especially if both of them want to wash their hair. There was also only one not full toilet paper roll, and since no one was picking up the phone, the toilet was paperless for half of the stay
The owner was nice enough to upgrade us to a larger room for the same price, so that we could fit comfortably with two children Very helpful owner Great location, walking distance from the train station, from where it takes 9 minutes to get to Stansted Airport by train Free wifi Very clean Lots of restaurants nearby Free baby cot Comfortable bed Large, spacious room Quite and peaceful

United KingdomThe hotel is on a main road in the town so at the weekend there are people out until late and you may hear some noise from the street - not within the hotel's control but something to be aware of. The hotel is old and has not been updated for a while - although it is clean, secure and has everything you need for your stay.
This is my go-to place when arriving late or leaving early from Stansted. There is a 24-hour bus to the airport from Bishop's Stortford (£2) which stops nearby. The hotel is a (very) old pub and the age of the rooms reflects this. The lady that has checked me in on my stays is very helpful and kind. The room had a comfy bed, wall-mounted TV and kettle with tea and coffee. The bathroom has a large shower and soap, shower gel and shampoo are provided. Be aware that this is an old building and old hotel when booking.
