Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFound the menu overpriced with not a lot of choice particularly for a borderline vegetarian who doesn't like celeriac! We had a very nice meal for a cheaper price in a nearby pub. The breakfast was ok but the sourdough bread was far too chunky and hard for us. Oh for an ordinary slice of toast!
Nice bedroom and staff but please tell your bar staff not to pour the drinks before they reach the table. I asked for no ice but my tomato juice was already poured over the ice and it was also a Big Tom which is too spicy for me. I then had a Frobisher fruit juice which was also about to be poured over the ice before the waitress stepped in.Annoyingly I was charged for the original juice which was poured away!

United KingdomIt says a 4* hotel but it's really a pub with rooms so a little misleading. The room I was in was right over the main pub and until diners / patrons left at 11pm was noisy and the green emergency light in the room was really bright
The pub itself was lovely, staff were great and the food was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were superb. The sheets were crisp and the bed comfortable.

United KingdomThe toilet was in a small corner so was a bit hard to use at ease. There were no tea cups or tea in the room but was too tired to worry the staff about it. There was a function outside our room which was quite noisy up until around 10pm.
The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfy and slept well. The breakfast was really good and the staff were very nice and helpful.

United KingdomThe hotel is very noisy are the rooms are located above the pub so on a morning you can hear everything downstairs. Which is understandable but given the £180 a night price it does mean you can not have a lie in on a morning. Also going into my room there was an unflushed toilet where I was greeted with someone else's bowel movement - Not a great start. The furniture has cracks in the bedrooms in the top of the mirrored furniture the glass was cracked.
The rooms are nice but needs some updating. We stayed in a room with mirrored furniture and there was cracks in this.

United KingdomSeveral things. The heating was unpredictable. The bar and restaurant were cold but our bedroom was so hot and we couldn’t turn the heating off during the night. The shower was faulty and the water ran cold then hot, cold then hot. The worst thing was when we came down to breakfast. No front of house staff had turned up so the poor chef was cooking breakfast, clearing tables and taking orders. There was no one available to take payment when we checked out so we had to leave our details so the hotel could contact us when a manager arrived. It was a complete shambles to be honest.
The property was quirky and the food was good

United KingdomI reported on checking out that when I tried to make a coffee in my room before breakfast, there was no kettle. No real problem , but the member of staff simply said, “Yes, it was broken a couple of days ago.” No apology. No explanation as to why it hadn’t been replaced. Left a bad taste in the mouth after an otherwise pleasant stay.
Warm, clean, well-furnished room, very comfortable bed; bar and waiting staff friendly and helpful. Dinner was delicious and attractively presented. Breakfast was excellent.

United KingdomThe bright green emergency exit light on the wall by the door kept us awake. This was reflected in the picture that was hanging on the wall by the window. In the end we hung one of our dressing gowns over the light...which we could still see through the dressing gown...so that was ok if there was an emergency. The pop-up plug in the basin does not work properly - so the water drains away even when the plug is pushed down. Some of the information in the booklet in the room is incorrect...such as 'Not requiring a code to access the internet' - which we did actually need. And the 'check-out time' was different to the actual check-out time.
Our evening meals were excellent. Breakfast was also very good. The staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was comfortable. The was no kettle in our room (only a coffee maker) so if we had wanted a cup of tea we would have had to ask for a kettle. (There were only 2 tea bags in the caddy).

United KingdomThere were some odd things about the hotel that may have been down to the outgoing manager, perhaps? A new manager started the day we left, and he appeared to be managing a far from ideal setup left by the outgoing manager. Breakfast was a choice of 1 of 5 options only with Juice and tea or coffee. We opted for a cooked breakfast and dared to ask (since the menu stated you could have only one option and I didn't want to get put in the stocks) if we could have some cereal or yoghurt. The new manager was obliging and brought us what appeared to be the Continental option, which was more than we asked for and slightly embarrassing. Some Croissants also arrived very late and unexpectedly since we hadn't ordered them, so we took these away in a container provided by the manager! Paying was certainly the most aggravating experience I have had in my years of travelling. Despite the presence of 3 modern payment machines and the manager at reception, the hotel was unable to take a card payment before we left. This was resolved after numerous phone calls both ways while we travelling, which was most inconvenient. I did offer to pay via an instant bank transfer as well, but this offer was turned down by the manager who clearly needed payment by card on the day of leaving. We would probably not stay at this hotel again unless assured of a choice of continental breakfast as well as a cooked to order option. This variety of breakfast is readily available even in the more basic hotels we visit.
The hotel is well presented and clean. The staff were welcoming and upgraded us to a better room on arrival as they were quiet, which was great. The breakfast provided was of good quality if limited in scope (see dislikes) and the service good. The car park was convenient, and the bathroom was very modern with a great power shower. The bed was comfortable, and the size of the room was adequate but not generous.

United KingdomLack of coffee machine in the room, and no turndown or just refreshing the refreshments was a bit of a shame. The fire escape light too was so distracting it was hard to sleep. Seems odd to have to block out the green light with a coat to not be kept awake. Some of the furniture was also damaged. For the price you’d sort of expect just a little more.
The staff, especially on the first night, were excellent. Friendly and helpful. Food was great too, though perhaps another option for vegetarians so you don’t have the same things each day but the quality was excellent. Also appreciated that despite the bar being open and busy, music was quietened at a reasonable time for those needing an early night.
