How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There was nothing we didn't like as we really enjoyed our stay and we will be looking to going back soon.
We like the range of choices they had for breakfast and dinner. The room was very nice and clean and we really enjoyed staying there. Overall the hotel was excellent and very nice as all the staff were very friendly. Caroline the receptionist was very helpful and had key knowledge and information about the different areas. Also Stefan the front of house manger and the team were all very nice taking too and very friendly.

Soff musak in the dining room. (This is a very minor complaint, because it was not loud, but not really suitable and inappropriate when there was a live pianist playing much better music in the hall.)

Older staff seemed to have issues with "not so rich people" taking advantage of staying at the hotel. Checking in for our double saver room seemed beneath them! Once we spoke to them, they decided they would dain themselves to chat with us. Stereotypical behaviours for a hotel living on the long gone bygone days!
The hotel is lovely, but appeared a little tired & rough around the edges. Younger staff were more polite than older staff. Fabulous breakfast! Certainly not 4 star quality, but a good deal to be taken advantage of before the price rise at Easter.

Breakfast was strange. Travelling on my own I felt uncomfortable.

We thought the evening meal was over rated , compared to other 4 star hotel meals we have had in other hotels. It was our 20 wedding anniversary but no acknowledgment that we wrote this on form when we booked.
Had a friendly feel about it all the staff appeared to be local and were extremely helpful. The manager says struggling with our bags( my husband has cancer) and straight away he took the suitcase in the carpark and carried it down the steps from the car park. Extremely thoughtful and kind of him to do this.2 The breakfasts were excellent and sandwiches at lunchtime excellent

Room was on the warm side, but opening the windows and turning down the heating fixed that.
A beautiful hotel in a lovely location. The staff were all superb and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Just what we needed for a brief getaway. We'll definitely be back.

The room was very hot despite it being December but managed to wedge the window open!
Staff friendly & helpful. It was a nice treat for my partners birthday. I'm not used to 4* hotels!

The room was rather warm at night, despite the radiator being turned off and cold.
Nice position and a nice hotel. Room was large enough to have a seating area, and a nice sea view. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was very fresh and tasty, with a wide unlimited choice - ordered food, not a buffet.

Our room was ill lit with brown furniture and needed a revamp as did the long grey corridor leading to it.
food, service and the staff, all excellent. Location very good. Could walk to the Botanic gardens and the hidden under cliff.

A few areas of decor need redoing.. ceiling cracks and water damage . But nothing else wrong
Always walked past and thought love to stay there... so treated myself and friend. Breakfast pricey but gorgeous. Interior on whole lovely but few areas (ceiling) got cracks and waterdamage. Gardens offer restful areas (though as rainy Nov did not sit out)
