Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe location was brilliant, walking distance from the centre of the small town of Downton - which was most convenient as it was the time of the busy Cuckoo Fair that is held every year on the Saturday before the early May Bank Holiday; it made a car parking space essential. Everything needed for a comfortable stay had been provided, in very clean and tidy manner. Who could wish for more? Family members who we arranged to meet there on Day 2 travelled from Dorset, Hampshire, and Somerset - all found us easily. All in all, it was a home from home - and I could easily have spent a week there!

United KingdomI could have used soap and shampoo in the shower.
Excellent location. Walks to the New Forest and easy walk into Downton with its cafes, pubs and shops and excellent circular walk up the Avon Valley. The two-storey accommodation is compact but very comfortable and has full size kitchen with all facilities.

United KingdomWe really enjoyed our stay here, it was clean and comfortable, we had everything we needed. The garden on the side is brilliant to relax in, very peaceful and quite and the village is lovely, recommend the Wooden Spoon for a great meal and a walk around the church. Having a designated parking place is great and easy to drive in and out of. My husband is 6ft 2in and had no problem with the stairs or the bedroom toilet ceiling, which does slope down. We will definitely be looking to return to stay here next time we are in the area. The host's are really lovely and helpful but not intrusive

NetherlandsThe fact that we only stayed here for 4 nights!
Such a wonderful, cozy place! Felt right at home the moment we stepped inside. The location is lovely, indeed right on the edge of the New Forest, also close to many other interesting spots and sights to see. Very comfy bed. The kitchen was one of our favourite features.

Hong KongShower space can be bigger and the shower water power can be stronger. Other than that, all very good with this barn.
Very comfy little one-bedroom barn with modern design and facilities for our daily needs. Also, it’s in the same village as my mum-in-law and very closed for our daily visit, superb location that you could easily catch a bus or drive a rental car. Also easy to go on different routes of walk from the door step.

United KingdomA welcome pack would have been a nice gesture. Many other hosts do but fortunately we arrived prepared. It just a nice thought! The en-suite bathroom hot water tap did not work on arrival but it wasn’t a problem as there was plenty of hot water around the property.
It was the perfect location for us. The overall presentation of the property was very tasteful presented. Small but perfect, the accommodation was clean, fully equipped and private with our own garden, table and chairs to share a glass of something as the sun goes down.We were delighted with our stay and the facility. We would use this again.

United KingdomSome pans are not compatible with the cooker meaning to boil an egg took 15 mins.
Exceptionally clean and comfortable. It was very private with its own garden and parking. With both a front and back door it was airy during a heatwave.. Excellent use has been made of a small space. Close to the bus stop we had a day trip to Salisbury without any parking concerns. The village is so pretty, with plenty of places to eat. Walking was easy, with footpaths close by.

United Kingdomthe key lock had a known difficulty and we had to call upon the owner who struggled with it too. All the cutlery had to be washed as it was dirty. The pots provided appeared unsuitable for the induction hob. e.g. having put boiling water into a pan for pasta it did not reach boiling point after half and hour and we gave up. most importantly the accommodation is unsuitable for seniors or even heavy people; Taking a suitcase up the very narrow stairs did not feel safe and the shower is tiny. although we were there before the weather got really hot we found it unbearable in the bedroom. a faulty fan more suited to a desk had been provided but was useless. minor point; the garden view is of a fence and the terrace or patio was dirty, untidy and without a broom being provided stayed that way. The owner was the least welcoming in fact the place showed no signs of welcome. suffice to say we were and are very disappointed so much so that we left on Tuesday. If owners were to spend at least 3 or 4 days in their properties trying to live as usual to gauge suitability us renters may not have to waste our holiday time and money.
It was within half a mile of a useful supermarket, a good café and several pubs which we didn't use but had the usual menus.
