How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

My rom didn't have a view and the window was obscured. You get what you pay for!
A very comfortable 2 night stay while I explored the coast. Staff were friendly and helpful. I thought it was good value for a midweek stay.

Room was a little bit warm - not the usual complaint for Scotland and not enough to put us off returning!

My room was lovely . I just didn't get a good sleep .it was a nice day . and my room was so hot .I got a fan but it was still hot .if I could have opened the window just to cool the room down . So I had hardly any sleep 3 hours at the most. The noise from the traffic was bad as well .it is a busy road.it was room 4. I would stay again but not in that room .my friend had a great sleep in her room at the back of the hotel .
I liked staying at the hotel because it was very clean staff were wonderful .food was delicious.

Great hotel, spotlessly clean and a really comfortable bed. The staff were lovely and breakfast was excellent, good produce, well cooked, we also had High Tea the night we arrived and that too was lovely, great value

There's nothing to say here, I only have positive things to say about this lovely hotel.
Staff are always lovely here when I stay. The breakfast is excellent and and is a good sized portion which add to the vlaue for money. Although not super fast the wifi is reliable.

Only thing negative is i think mattresses on sofa beds are probably getting to end of their life. A bit wire like lumps in places and starting sag in middle.
Spotlessly clean in rooms and all public areas, bar and restaurant. Staff extremely welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, have good amenities and nice modern bathrooms. Food in restaurant is excellent and great quality as well as extremely good value with most mains only £9 to £11. Stayed a few times before and would again and the high standard is always maintained.

We were in Room 2 which was the twin room to the front of the hotel facing into the road. It was noisy with traffic and the patrons leaving the bar were chatty..😂 But we were tired after a long day, and soon got over to sleep. The big bay window of this period property isn’t double glazed, so expect some traffic noise for sure.
Cooked breakfast was excellent, the black pudding and haggis were delicious. The staff serving breakfast were lovely, very homely. Great service. Ann Marie on reception was very friendly and accomodating, she booked our taxi to the wedding venue. We came from Lanarkshire and asked for an early check in which was honoured. Could not fault the staff. They were all excellent. Room was spacious and clean, shower was enormous! Beds were comfy.

Staff were wonderful, extremely helpful and "customer centred" Food was perfect, had breakfast, lunch and evening meals, high standard of food and great service. Large portions too!! Overall great experience , would go back and highly recommend.

Could of done with more towels in the double room, we both had showers but only 1 bath towel & 1 hand towel supplied

Everything was perfect for what we needed! It was our first night in Scotland after our international flight into Edinburg. It was a great halfway point to get a jumpstart to St. Andrews and the beautiful stops along the way!
Fantastic food all around—some of the best we had in Scotland over the course of our two-week vacation in various places!

Unable to have a glass of white wine with dinner as they only had Chardonnay and no other. Also was chased to pay dinner bill when I had already paid which I found embarrassing. Also just two of us staying but a double bed settee was also made up as a double bed which restricted moving around in the room
