The code for the front door didn’t initially work and then also the room code. May be a bigger sign on the street too, wasn’t super obvious where the place was. There wasn’t much of a presence of help but we did get there in the end

Good one night stay ready for airport the next morning.

It’s sort of far from the city centre and main pick up areas. There’s no in-person staff to assist you with anything, yes they are available online but it’s sometimes easier to speak to someone in person.

Modern set up and clean for the most part. Very quiet area. City views.

Sound proofing is not great at all, we can hear neighbors talking. Other than that, everything else is perfect

Great value for money Super easy check in Very clean Good furnishings and well equipped room Spacious room Located just 1-2km away from city center and is so much cheaper and better than some of the hotels in the city center. If you’re on a self-drive travel, we would Highly recommend it.

There is no reception, which is ok but they could inform potential guests about this. You get a code for the main door and your room. The entrance look really weird, like it’s abandoned or someone is about to move in or out. If you need help with anything you got to call as there is nobody there. Pretty far from the city center but ok if you have a car. I booked the suite and its modern but very cold interior. Not inviting at all.

Clean and modern interior in the rooms

There was no A/C, or it was remotely controlled. It was VERY warm. Even with the window open and a fan which I found in the middle of the night, with the help of chatting then getting a call back from the Hotel helpline, the room was still unbearably warm.

The room and bath were nice and felt very new. Bed was comfortable. It was easy to access and get in even though the hotel was unstaffed.

We couldn’t silence the ventilator in the bathroom, therefore it was noisy at night. Towels were small and worn out. The room wasn’t cleaned for 4 days, nor were the towels changed.

Fast check in and check out. Responsiveness of online requests. Distance from Reykjavík. Safe area. Nice ambiance.

My overall experience was good, .. I would stay there again. Excellent and kind service hotline!

    • Economy Single Room

The room was not very spacious for 150EUR/ night. and due to the narrow room layout the (comparatively high) bed covered the lower part of the window, making the room less bright as it needed to be. I 'm a bit curious, why somebody furnishes like that. ..the partially hidden window could also not be opened for some fresh air, .. however air condition worked well. Unfortunately the (quite large) TV was broken and could not be fixed while staying. However ALVA hotel offered a financial compensation for that. Overall the hotel has actually no staff onsite. hotel/room access is managed by passcodes only. Personal Contact is only possible by the service hotline. I suppose, that's also the reason, why all common areas (lobby, stairs, outside walls/windows) lock a little dusty and somehow "given up".

The hotel room itself was quit good and modern equipped; the bathroom was inviting, and the room as well; as equipment was clean and useful. There are a couple of restaurants beside and a geothermal bath/ swimming pool. The price/performance ratio for a hotel accomodation in Reykjavik was quite good.

It would have been helpful if there were reception staff working on site. Having to type in numbers into doors and having nobody to greet us felt a little cold. It made us nervous that we wouldn't get help right away if we needed it. If I had known that there were no staff, I would have gone somewhere else.

It was a beautifully designed room with great lighting, comfortable beds, soft bedding, and black out curtains.

It's a bit further away from the city centre. I was in summer and then because of the higher temperatures it's easy to walk (30 min.), but when in winter you have to take an bus. The flybus when going from and getting to airport don't stop at this hotel. You have to take somewhere else, in my case Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.

That I was staying an couple of days in your hotel and I had one day extra and you had still place ;) Also great modern hotel with modern facilities. Much better then the expensive ones in Reykjavik city centre which look a lot of times outdated or double the price. Self check in also excellent, I prefer that as an solo traveller.

Modern with facilities. It's one of the newer hotels outside Reykjavík city centre. For the price is much better then the expensive ones in the city centre which look out dated / from the past. Also self check in is excellent if you don't want to see the staff or just wat to do everything on your own. I don't see the staff at all when I stay, but for me that's fine. One of the less times I give 5 start to an hotel ;)

Hypersensitive buttons when putting in codes in rooms

Hotel Alva was a nice hotel! I would say this was the nicest stay we had during our trip to Iceland. It was kinda sketchy to find but once we found it, it was obvious. The front lobby was under construction, I assume it will be very nice once it is finished. The rooms were very nicely updated for sure! The decors and cleanliness was great! Putting in the codes to our room was always tough, it was hyper sensitive so it took the wrong codes every time and we were locked out once bc of this. Otherwise, it was an easy check in, we liked the nearby stores and it was very close to Reykjavík town. Would recommend!
