Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Heba and her husband were so friendly. They are great hosts and we feel very welcomed. We also learned about Iceland and Icelandic stories. The location is only 15 minutes drive from Selfoss. Easy to visit the golden circle.

United StatesGreat seaside location, close to south coast sights and Golden Circle. Rooms are warm and cozy and tastefully decorated with original art. Hosts were kind, considerate, extremely knowledgeable about Iceland’s history and culture and eager to share these with us. Breakfast food was delicious (homemade bread!) and plentiful. Perfect combination of a staying in a family setting yet having privacy and space to ourselves.

We had a really nice time at Heba and Kristjan's accommodation. You are greeted with an open heart, exciting stories about pictures and objects in the house are told during the tour to the room and at breakfast there are always individual tips for the day's tour. The breakfast consists of very tasty local food, the bathroom and rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. I would best describe our stay as a visit to our dear grandparents. If you have the chance, grab a room for a few nights.

AustriaAbsolutely everything was great. The location near the sea, the view from the rooms, the comfortable bed, the very clean bathroom, the breakfast (the bread is great, thank you Heba) which was prepared with love....but what we appreciated most, was Heba and her husband. They had lots of very interesting stories about Iceland and its history, about Elves and Trolls, about what to do when the weather is good and when the weather is bad.... Absolutely fantastic, I would give more than 10 points, but unfortunately it is not possible.

United StatesNothing, truly a wonderful place for the two nights we were there.
If you have a few days to linger while in Iceland, this is certainly the place to do it. Had I known how wonderful it would be, I would have planned to spend more time here. First, We had the room with the balcony overlooking the sea. No it’s not a “beach” for sunbathing and typical seaside activities (too rocky) but I spent hours reading and writing drinking coffee and tea watching as the tide came in and out. Next, the hosts. It’s like staying with the family that you love to visit. Lastly, the breakfast. The bread is fresh baked every day, and they will make sure you have had your fill. It is the perfect place to recharge and highly recommend!

CanadaEverything was great, but since our stay was 7 days, I did miss eating eggs for breakfast.
Breakfast was great. There were several options to choose from and more than enough to eat. We really enjoyed the homemade bread. The room was clean and the view from the bedroom was great as well. Heba and Kristan are great hosts; very friendly and accommodating.

United Statesnothing - the stay was great - beware that the rooms are on the second floor if mobility is an issue.
A beautiful home on the sea - very comfortable rooms (we had a small balcony with a view of the ocean - a perfect spot to relax), spacious bathroom upstairs and a second full bath downstairs, excellent breakfast - hosts were gracious and gave us a lot of great advice - - went to the Westman Islands to see puffins (75 minute drive to the ferry)! Got a mini history lesson about the area and the host's family. The town is charming and 10 minutes from Selfoss where there are shops / restaurants; Also, a bird sanctuary is a 5-10 minute drive from the guest house on Route 34.

We had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Heba. The owners are so kind and attentive to every need, and want to make your stay the best they can. You stay in a family home, and are made to feel a part of the family. Super breakfast - don’t miss the home-made bread. We would recommend staying here to any visitors to the area.

HungaryFriendly and very hospitable house owners. Excellent breakfast with home made bread, served in a very nice athmosphere. We received useful guideance for our trip the next day, what to see and how to get there, etc. We also had a friendly discussion with the hosts about the house, the history of different interior pieces and decorations, most of them hand made by the ancestors. Absolutely heart-warming and friendly home!

Lovely family guesthouse near Selfoss, on a coastline around 1hr drive to KEF airport or Reykjavik. The host, Heba and Kristjan are super friendly in everything, Heba guided us through the house with lots of very lovely artpiece and ceramics she and her family made. The dining room was also very Islandic style. We felt totally at home. Another thing to mention is the next day when we drive out, the car shows low tyre pressure warning. Kristjan kindly walked out to help us check the issue, and told us it was probably due to low temperature during the night. It was no more warning once we are on the road. We appreciate the hospitality of Heba / Kristjan couple and they are really making everything felt at home at this place.
