How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There are some ongoing construction work nearby the lake, not noisy just didn't look as good as the picture.
friendly and nice staff, super responsive. I forgot to bring my charger adapter, asked them if they got one that I can borrow, they left them in the kitchen area for me. Really like the dining and living room area. beautiful view from the window you can see lake and mountain.

We arrived to the most amazing little town. This warm and tidy guest house, gave us a feeling of vacation and provided all our needs. Staff was so helpful, personal and pleasant. The shared kitchen is very nice, gorgeous view. Thank you

There wasn't an actual check-in. Information is posted on walls, but we would have preferred to have engaged with a person. The wood surrounding the sink in our room looked to have water damage; we weren't comfortable using it and instead relied on the sinks in the toilet area. For anyone coming on foot to the hostel with a suitcase on wheels, the path leading down to the hostel is very rough underfoot. The hostel is better suited to guests with a car or motorbike.
Beautiful views over the fjord from the dining area. Availability of tea and coffee. Friendly welcome from the guy who serviced the rooms. We arrived early on the ferry and were able to leave our luggage at the hostel until check-in time (2 pm).

It was not cheap but then Iceland is very expensive

The hostel is located close to everything, right along the fjord and features excellent views, especially from the shared dinning room, which will immediately leave you impressed. The dorm was warm and comfortable. Self check in system in place. The kitchen was truly fully equipped and all the shared areas are great for socializing.

it was easy to find it as the confirmation email had clear direction. The room is very simple and was not too many space after open 2 big suitcase but we managed it. common area in the building was all tidy and very well equipped.

Booked for a double, but they accidentally had us down for a single so one pillow, blanket and towel. When I text to advise they did take sometime to send someone over so we had dinner first in the common area and then someone came. Staff was very friendly.
Cute and quaint little hostel. Only a few rooms and spacious common area. Other guests were all lovely. Good location to get to, if you have a car. The town itself is very small but the hostel was great for a night stopover. Plenty of fridge space.

Maybe the prices are a bit high for a 'hostel', but compared to other locations it was okay, it being overpriced Iceland ..
Beautiful location, best views, a beach to swim from, a wintergreen dining hall to dream in, super friendly staff (who let me check in earlier as I had to work a bit and use their wifi/coffee machine ;–) and all-round peaceful and tasteful place!

The kitchen is too small for a hostel that many guests will be preparing their meals.

Wifi was difficult to reach in some of the rooms Walls were very thin, a problem if you have noisy neighbors, which I didn’t
Location is great, just right by the town, with astonishing view Shared Showers and toilets are very spacious and crystal clean The kitchen and the living room are unbeatable, with lots of amenities and so comfy

There were two showers that both didn’t drain well. Also a big window in the shower room without a curtain. It was difficult to tell if someone was using them or not without some sort of indicator/sign. There could be some improvements made there.
Super cute place with comfortable beds and linens. Neat history; interesting antiques and decor. Well-thought out kitchen. Very clean.

thin walls, it’s ok, you just have to know that you need to be mindful of other guests.
It‘s a small hostel with very basic facilities but everything is very clean, tidy. very cozy common area with view. also the kitchen is well equipped and clean.

The weather was confronting!
The harbour view was very good although rain and foggy weather set in for a day. It was pleasant to sit in the lounge / dining area and watch the harbour and read a book.

Soundproof is not very good.
