How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Great location to explore Landmannalaugar. Very good restaurant. Nice hike to a canyon right outside the door. Have a ranger at front desk for hiking tips, weather and road conditions.

I didn't mind but just so people know the shower is not large.
This place is really fantastic - so close to many places in the Highlands. It has a great family lodge feel, meals are available, the coffee is good, breakfast is good, and rooms are clean. There are also extra bonus WCs throughout so even if you are staying in a room with a few people and one of them is taking a shower, you can still visit a WC.

The rooms are very basic and simple, literally nothing except bed. Generally,I don't have any problem to stay in such basic place, but we expected to have a fridge or something for groceries as we were on a road trip :)
Perfect location and good vibes. Very good for one night stay after hiking in Landmannalaugar (considering the fact that there are not much other options). Loved that you have to take your boots off before entering the building.

Pricey.
Was a bit crowded, but good breakfast, clean rooms, one very friendly young lady was very helpful with information about going to Landmanalaugar Highlands. Location is good to visit those magical mountains.

We liked the idea that it was shoes free , it was the Closest place to Landmannalaugar , very convienient for day trip a there. they have a nice sauna open Till midnight!

The location was great for visiting Landmannalageur. The hotel was cozy with 2 dining options. One room had burgers and other grilled food. The second had larger dinners. The room was clean but basic.

For us this hotel offered the connivence of access to Landmannlaugar, and there are no other options for miles. We had a bit of a unique experience in that we got upgraded to the neighbouring property, and ended up being the only ones staying in the building. It’s not often you get a hotel to yourself! We were then treated to a full breakfast buffet in the morning (included in the original price) laid out just for us. Made us feel quite special.

The hotel was the most expensive one we stayed in Iceland and I can understand as there are not that many available, it is possible to ask for a higher price, but definitely felt overpriced. The description said that it is a small room, but it was smaller than expected. It would be fitting for a couple or one person.
There was a ranger in the hotel in the morning that gave us very good advice and commented on our travel plans taking into account the current weather and expected changes. That was incredibly valuable! The hotel had a common room where you were able to buy snacks and drinks late in the evening. The parking lot was huge.

The size of the room is very small.
This hotel offers convenience and comfort in Landmannalauger region- a beautiful but remote area. This hotel has all one needs for day-hikes; sandwiches for hiking, grilled burgers until 11 pm, gas station and a small store. From the hotel it’s another hour+ drive on F208 to the trails area, but this is the only hotel in this area unless you do camping or sleep in cars. The staff is extremely nice and hospitable. I left my walking shoes after checking out, and one of the staff, Guðrún actually drove and delivered them to me near Reykjavík where I was staying, unbelievably kind!

A well-managed clean facility. The room was not cheap and was very small but it was comfortable and gave as close a base as possible to Landmannalaugar other than camping. Good bistro meals and a good breakfast.
