Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaCompared to the standard car/hotel combo, it takes more time to figure out how to make the best use of any camper van because they are less standardized. Finding a suitable campsite will also take more time than finding a suitable hotel.
Iceland is new to us so without spending a lot of time planning an itinerary for a destination we are totally unfamiliar with, a compact camper van makes a lot more sense because it provides a lot of flexibility while the overall cost is comparable if not lower than rental of a car plus hotel. Our previous tour of Newfoundland was in a SUV and the compact camper van experience is definitely better.

AustraliaPillows were a bit average (too soft/flat) we had to use our jumpers and travel neck rests to thicken them up.
Pickup from airport was a great bonus, everything was super clean and all the cooking utensils were in great condition. The heater was great.

GermanyWe expected a gas or diesel heating system for the night. From the pictures of the van and what is displayed on the website we anticipated that. Unfortunately it was only an electric heating system in our van. Usage was only possible with electricity. Not all camping ground in Iceland provide that (but to be fair: the majority) and if so it always costs extra. We only used it once and it felt very cheap and not trustful. After that we just slept with more clothes on. That was fine but it was August. We also similar vans of rent.is with gas heating system. Maybe we should have complained right away and asked for this kind of van. Other than that everything was fine. If you book in advance you can make a good deal here also because everything you need is included.
The camper was quite new and super clean. It comes with all the utellery you need like camping stove and cutlery. Staff was friendly, we asked for a later time to give it back. Wasn't a problem. All went smoothly and uncomplicated.

Australiait would have been beneficial to have a quick overview of driving rules/customs of the country. for example, I spent a good part of my trip wondering why people were flashing their lights at me - turns out in Iceland you need to have lights on all the time. so it would have been good to have had this information. as I was travelling solo there was enough space for me and my luggage, however, if there had been two in the van it would have involved some manoeuvring for luggage each night. one other thing is that they don't, similar to almost everywhere in Iceland, accept amex and when you arrive you either need to have $2k held on a credit card or buy additional insurance - this should have been clearly communicated before arriving.
i hired a camper for 12 nights whilst driving around Iceland. the camper suited my needs and provided a reasonably priced, for iceland, transport and accommodation all in one. plus they have everything you need already in the vans (sleeping bag, pillow, kitchen equipment). some of the other companies i looked into charged extra for these things - so rent.is won on price when all was combined. the team were also helpful by phone and email answering queries. i also had a broken wing mirror and reading past reviews thought I would be charged an extortionate amount on returning the car, however, it was far far less than I imagined.

United KingdomShuttle Pick up and drop off was a little late so next time I would call rental immediately when we arrive. Advise travellers to drop off at least.2 hours before flight This did not affect our trip though.
Ease of Hire, friendly helpful staff with great advice, van was clean, warm and very comfy bed and easy to drive. Fantastic way to see Iceland. We didnt cook or use cooking utensils but everything was supplied.

United StatesI didn't see anywhere on the booking that there was an insurance fee besides "under age 20 will have to pay insurance fee". We are in our mid/late 20's and we were fine with paying insurance fee, however the representative let us know that the fee was a $2,500 USD holding on our card... for a one night rental. A bit ridiculous and we were about to walk away until he said there was another option of paying $42 USD. A bit weird, felt a little scammy especially when there was no mention of this insurance fee on the booking.
nice van to drive and sleep.

GreeceThe pictures on the site were accurate. I cannot speak of the whole fleet of vehicles so the comments below are for the car we received for our trip and the overall support: 1) the state of the vehicle was terrible (cracked windshield, broken lights on the back, general condition) and after some km of distance an engine light popped off - due to the car not being serviced. As for hygiene, we thought we could use the campervan for our trip and we ended up staying in multiple hotels. Truly, the worst conditions I have ever seen! 2) staff was not that helpful on 2 occasions, (a) the state of tires and type of terrain we could cross (b) our battery died due to cold conditions overnight and nobody came to assist us, thankfully people at the hotel we stayed in provided assistance. Instead of calling us once they had solutions, they expected me to call them (while they didn't pick up after 3 calls) and they never cared enough to call back. As for their English skills, A for effort, but on the practical side it was bad! 3) as a general comment - the company has some good ratings and many people have used their services, so there is a chance that this was a one-time event. Nevertheless, after pointing out the terrible state of the vehicle they provided no solution and they did not give us a vehicle of good quality. On the other hand, when we asked for support for the engine light, car battery, and tires, the customer support was completely useless, as well as the insurance. The policies for insurance were useful only to avoid a 2k Euros deposit, which probably would be at risk taking into consideration the bad state of the vehicle - and I was charged for an extra day of insurance because before taking the car I mentioned that I would bring it back around 00:00 (which in the end I brought back around 23:00 of the previous day), and of course, they charged insurance for the whole day, instead of clarifying that.
Some of the staff tried to assist us but generally speaking the only positive thing was the fuel was diesel. Other than that nothing else.

United StatesEverything was wonderful!
We were beyond impressed with Rent Campervan! The vehical was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed for our 6day adventure- a wifi port, camp chairs, cooler, gas stove, heater, sleeping bags, pillows. It was perfect! The gentlemen working the office were so kind and helpful. Our flight was delayed by a whole day, but they adjusted our reservation with no issue. They gave us such helpful information about how to navigate roads and even ideas of sights we might want to see. They were the most helpful!!!
