Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The rooms were warm and comfortable after a long day of walking and sighteseeing. Breakfast was very good :)

EgyptIts not hotel for honeymoon or important celebration, and rooms could benefit from small fixes. For example, one spring was out of masse in old mattress in 301 and small nail was waiting for knitwear victims at the side of the chair in same 301. Also coffee from small machine was terrible for my taste (some german mass market brand of beans?), but special thanks to nice peoples who cared about breakfast room, it was possible to get espresso or capucino from bar machine
That was not my first (nor second or third...) stay there, and what Rigel could offer is - moderate price when more central and more upscale hotels already doubled or trippled price for high season. So plan 6...8 nights stay, buy 7days vaporetto pass at 65 euro, and here we are! In the Venice at half price, with unlimited rides on vaporettos outside of peak hours. Generous breakfast with lot of vegan options, including almonds walnuts sunflower, as well as cheeses and prosciottos (not upscale quality, but hey you got A LOT for price paid) My next recommendations are: - go for S.Giorgio island, for visit Fondazione Giorgio Cini (check their schedule in advance its not daily; its in my top3 "pay-per-vislt" in Venice, roof of the SsnMarco basilique and gallery of the Accademy are other two) and/or for great coffee corretto with THE VIEW in local cafe. Alcohol is overpriced there but sandwiches very good, chiccetti presented at michelin-level, and coffee at the bar is very goid and cheap - avoid one-day-tourists routes and schedule. For example vaporetto route 1 from Lido all the way along Giardini, SanMarco and GrandCanal is beatiful experience after 19pm or at the sunruse, but can be horrible in the middle of weekend days - don't look for fine dining on Lido, it sumply not exists. For drink in style go to bar ofvExcelciour hotel, for food which justify 100 euro / person tag check renowed resraraunts on Burano (advance reservations like 2 months before recommended!)

GermanyThe hotel is located in a small quiet street but not far from the vaporetto stop. Here, you can quickly reach Venezia, Murano, and Burano. I did not expect to find such a comprehensive breakfast buffet, all that I could imagine. The friendly waiter served one or two true italian cappuchino (with a heart). The room was small but had everything I needed. Cleaned carefully every day. The staff was very friendly and I had a pleasant stay. I defintely will come back.

United StatesThe room was quite old and the bathroom small and outdated. There was noise from other rooms above and next to us every night. Not terrible, but not great either.
#1: The location. About 5 min from Lido S.M.E. vaporetto station, and yet located in a quiet side street. Staff were friendly, attentive, and always helpful. Nice breakfast buffet.

Czech RepublicOff season, due to its location off the main grid, the water travel makes the stay expensive (but well worth it in high season). Otherwise, nothing negative to say - maybe a few details like electric plugs in the rooms - bit dated and a bit unsafe, few and far in between. Water fixture the same - do not flush prior taking a shower as the cold water supply will go towards the toilet tank and your shower will be searing hot. But these are plagues of older buildings, hard to fix, so just be aware of it and it's a non-issue. Overall, our stay was very comfortable, supported by a very friendly staff.
The personnel at the hotel is what makes it stand out. Each and every person was friendly, professional, helpful, nice. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location if you are travelling in the summer heat. It's off the main islands, near beach, secluded from high season crowds. Off season, in October, I could have booked something more central actually, for the same price. The waterbus (vaporetto) is expensive at 9'50eur single ride, 45eur for 3 days. It is very much worth it in high season thanks to the mature trees, calm street and proximity of beach. Off season, these are no longer off so much added value. The hotel's facilities are good, they tried to refurbish. It's a comfortable older hotel, with very good breakfast (gluten free options available). I recommend.

EgyptThere are 2 types of single rooms without differentiating in reservation system! I guess only difference in description is bidet, and those rooms reasonably good (301 201 101 for example, high floor is better because sound insulation between floor is weak and if your neighbour above walking on hard heels...) But single rooms must be fairly named "economy single room" and priced lover, these stock is really budget (like budget guest houses in Mestre). Coffee from automatic machine is terrible (hilton style), but you can get normal one from bar machine without extra fee. Note there are no good restaraunts on Lido, even those with 4.5+ ratings are mediocre in food, service and wine list. Only one which I didn't test is restaraunt of Excelciour hotel but at that budget I wish to see 2 michelin stars before I go
During high season that is only one affordable option for solo traveller in Venice. Just match duration of your stay to validity of 7 day vaporetto pass. And for bonus you can walk along endless sand beach on other side of the island or in the pine forest (far end of the island)

United KingdomThe bed was very firm. There was a lack of plugs in the room, which meant that to boil the kettle, you had to unplug the fridge and to charge your phone, the bedside lamp had to be unplugged. The shower door was very difficult to pull shut and leaked, so the floor was very wet. The shower head sprayed the water in many directions.
The location was good, within a short walk from the ferry terminal and close to shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were very good, with plenty of choice.

We found Hotel Rigel really charming! The staff were great, really friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely in a nice dining room and we felt really comfortable during our stay. Location is great too, really close to bars and restaurants and a 5 min walk to the ferry stop...but on a really quiet street.
