Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandOnly that I would not walk around the area nearby alone at night as there is a lot of homeless males. I think a towel should be included in the price. The lift is under repair so bringing my heavy suitcase up 6 flights of stairs was challenging. The room also got quiet hot.
A lovely vibrant hostel, with comfortable beds and facilities. Very convenient as it is near the train station. I grabbed a drink in the downstairs bar and it was really nice as I would be probably feel odd in a bar elsewhere but at least I was in my own hostel and had the atmosphere of other solo travellers.

United KingdomIt is quite an expensive hostel- so the little things like towels, laundry etc cost more than usual.
The rooms were a great size, loads of storage space and two bathrooms per 6 bed dorm. Facilities were good too.

AustraliaFor the amount of money I paid a towel and bath mat should be included. The room lighting wasn’t great . The first night the temperature of the shower was a disaster and even when the maintenance man came it was still only lukewarm. I complained to reception the morning after and the woman got it fixed and I enjoyed a hot shower everyday after that. The shower cubicle is small but the bathroom is large. The lighting in the bathroom is barely adequate for applying makeup. No kitchen so you have to spend a lot of money on food.
The mattress was excellent. The room was spacious. The lobby area was pleasant. The room temperature was good .

CanadaTowel rental was ridiculous. Paris generator allowed you to exchange towels for free after rental for fresh ones. This place made u pay for each fresh towel which is more than the towel cost Also the smoking section was hidden and not explained at all. From floor 2 the door says Staff only. On floor 1 it says smoking area/laundry. The staff watched me smoke outside on the street for the first night without ever mentioning they had a private area with chairs. This upset me when I found the area by mistake but once I found it it was very relaxing. This needs to be posted properly

FranceThe main elevator is under reparation, and the service elevator was broken for the first few days of my stay, and I was staying on the 6th floor… so that was sometimes tough but it was repaired halfway through my stay.
Very easy to get to from Termini - the station you arrive at if taking the train in from Rome airport (about a 10 min walk). There’s someone at the front desk 24/7 which is practical. There’s a “day bar” for coffees and in the evening another bar for cocktails (and I think they serve food but I didn’t try). The nearest metro is Piazzo Vittorio Emanuele and is very convenient, though I mostly walked. The Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore is just a 10 min walk, the Colosseum about a 20-min walk, Trevi Fountain about 30, and Pantheon just a few minutes further. You can also walk to other major sites so really for the price, it’s a great place. I shared a room with 3 other woman, and it was nice to meet other people throughout the stay. The rooms are cute for a hostel, and each bed has its own large case in which you can store your belongings and padlock it (either bring your own or you can buy one on-site). You can also do laundry (purchase tokens and detergent at reception). Overall very happy with my stay.
