Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaThe pool cannot be used in the day you checkout, and I had to be granted access by "special request" because I specifically booked a room in this hotel to be able to use the pool in the day of checkout. Then, you are told on a small piece of paper that you need a "swimming cup" to be able to use the pool. Swimming cup of course means cap, and if you don't have a swimming cap for an outdoor pool, as no normal person has, they conveniently offer to sell you some caps (or "cups"). Then, if you use the swimming cap in the pool, some lady hunts you down and yells at you for not wearing the cap correctly, as there is a small bit of hair still visible on the side. What's the deal with you people and swimming caps? Talk about a relaxing hotel stay...! This is the only hotel I have seen in my life with a checkout time of 10AM. This should be written in huge bold letters when booking a room for just 1 night, as it obviously was a great inconvenience. Although I asked nicely to receive a later checkout, at 12 or even 11 (which is normal checkout time for any other hotel on the planet), and there were still plenty of empty rooms for the next day available for booking, the staff simply said it cannot be done, they didn't seem to care one bit about my request. One more problem was the AC in the room, the AC did work, sometimes, whenever it decided to work, I tried changing the controls, but these didn't seem to change anything. Ultimately, we had a "wonderful" hot sweaty night. Unfortunately hotel was totally not worth the high price for just 1 night.
The breakfast was very good and had excellent options.

DenmarkThis is not a 4 star seaside hotel as advertised! It's a budget hotel located on a busy street, and it doesn't have a pool or parking onsite. The pool and parking are across the street at a different location. The hotel building is very old and doesn't have any insulation, so it's like being in an oven (even with air-conditioning at full all day). You will have to wear a swimming cap to use the pool (thus we didn't use the pool). The breakfast is not extensive or self serve. The most weird concept we have ever seen, where you order your breakfast without a menu...
The staff are trying very hard, and I feel sorry for them, because there is not much they can do to change the customer experience.

Czech RepublicWe left after the first night. The hotel does not match the description on Booking. The room is small and dirty, it should be 16 m2, but it is barely 12 m2, you can hardly walk around the bed, as there was little space. There are cobwebs in the corners, the wallpaper on the walls is peeling off, corrosion is everywhere on metal parts like windows and radiators, everywhere in the corners a hundred years of dirt, the shower is 50cm wide, I could barely fit in, the water in the shower does not drain, probably the drain is blocked, the device is very old, over 20 years old, worn out and without any maintenance, eg the cabinet cannot be closed at all, it is dismantled. Parking was supposed to be in the hotel car park for a fee of € 10 per day, but the hotel has no parking, I had to park in the public car park for € 15 per day, so if I leave the car park, I will pay for parking again on arrival. The hotel was supposed to be by the beach, the shortest way to the beach is 500 meters. I travel a lot and often in Italy, but it has not happened to me that I would get a paper plate and plastic cutlery for breakfast. An extra bed costs € 15, that's fine, but I didn't get an extra bed and an extra € 15 is needed to sleep a two-year-old in my bed. Accommodation in this hotel is unworthy of my family. I have never met such a unmaintained hotel, such a brothel and dirt, and arrogant reception staff who were not at all interested in my complaint. they demanded to pay € 240 for one night. I never want to experience this again. Yuck. It is not true what the hotel writes for the review. The child was 2 years old and was reported upon arrival, we handed over the passports of all persons immediately upon arrival. The hotel was supposed to provide us with an extra bed for 15 EUR, so he writes in the conditions. It did not happen. On departure, I paid the first night out of three for a EUR 170 credit card and my money was deducted from my account.
Nothing.
