Because of the very central location, it gets noisy in the night. But the windows and doors are modern and well insulated.

Exceptional experience. A 160 m2 romantic 19th century apartment, in a palazzo that dates back much longer. High ceilings with original paintings and romantic chandeliers, and very nice furniture. We could imagine how residents and service staff lived und worked at the very same location some 150 years ago. The residents within their living areas and staff along the corridor with direct access to the rooms rendering the necessary service to their Signori at that time. We enjoyed the apero at the golden living room and relaxed at the spacious double bedrooms. We climbed the steep and narrow stairs to the spacious rooftop terrace, which was probably used more for drying laundry by staff in recent centuries. Nowadays it offers a view over the old city and is equipped for sunbathing or cardplaying for the residents. Looking back to old times the previous residents most likely traders of Catania and used the rooms on the lower floors as warehouses/sales rooms. Higher up there probably were storage facilities and offices, and upstairs the living rooms of the family. It's amazing how preserved the way of life back then is when moving up and down the stairs. We reached the scenic landmarks in the city center of Catania barely using public transport. Most of the locations were within walking distance. An excellent breakfast just round the corner where the waiter knew the following day what we had ordered the previous day. Lunch and dinner and snacks all around the fish market where we tasted fresh and local food. The owner and his son were extremely nice and helpful. Questions were answered within minutes. We opted for a privat parking location within 5 min (mind narrow access and maneuvering: better park your XXL SUV elsewhere). Overall a very interesting and extremely enjoyable stay in the very hart of Catania we wholeheartedly recommend this place for guests enjoying to enter into ancient times long gone by and well preserved by the current owners.

Nothing. Just worth mentioning that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and no lift, so not suitable for those with mobility problems.

Livio the host was extremely helpful, friendly and informative. The property is beautifully decorated and furnished, comfortable and modern yet in keeping with its 1920s origins. Every convenience was supplied, including basics for breakfast and a Gaggia coffee machine! The situation is perfect, in the centre of the old centre, all monuments and shops in walking distance and wonderful fruit, veg, meat and (spectacular) fish markets all nearby. The view from the several balconies is enough to keep guest occupied for hours! Vast choice of restaurants as well - booking advisable for some for winter dinners as indoor space limited. At lunchtime outside is usually fine even in January!

We loved everything

It was a unique property, the architecture was amazing and restoration work impeccable. It was spacious, well equipped (everything you could possibly need),lots of balconies with views plus a roof terrace, and very central. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. Private parking in a locked area was also provided at €10 a night and invaluable if you bring your car as street parking isn’t to be advised.

We liked everything about the Palazzolo. Comfortable beds and air conditioner was a plus. The coffee machine is wonderful. The terrace was what we needed to gather with our group for some local red wine. Livio’s father was the best. He greeted us and stowed our bags when we arrived too early, even helped me carry my luggage to the third floor where our stay was. We’ll definitely come back to stay here again.

Having to leave.

Stunning apartment with its original features beautifully intact and lovingly restored. The ceilings in particular are a work of art and it was magical waking up to such a pretty view every morning. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and each one has a balcony overlooking the lively streets of Catania. The location is perfect for exploring the city centre and there are countless cafes, restaurants and shops on your door step. Our host, Livio, was amazing - very attentive and obliging - as was his father, who gave us a very warm welcome on the day we arrived. Overall we had a wonderful and memorable stay here.

1. Livio. amazing host! Full kitchen. Amazing building! Pics on booking.com do not do it justice. It is like walking into a museum that has been in the family for generations... Full 3/4 bedroom flat overlooking the city! Right next to central square, easy access. Livio has the flat prepped and ready with light accommodations... Cold water and vino in the fridge...Sure, if you are cooking that black ink squid pasta, just walk downstairs to the fish market. Fresh fruit and veggies everywhere. Prime location. Cannot say enough about our stay here!! Our luggage was lost, so having a washer dryer combo was amazing. So, the airport caught fire when we where here, asked Livio if we could stay longer...No Problem!!! Had to move to the lower flat, but no biggie. Then he offered to discount the room 1/2 price if we needed to stay longer than our fly out.

This apartment was absolutely gorgeous, in a perfect location walkable to everything, excellent restaurants and the colorful market on the street - but if the windows are closed it’s completely quiet. We were a grown family of 4 and were very comfortable in the 4 beautiful bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Livio and his father were wonderful attentive hosts, we would come back anytime - grazie mille!
