Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandIt was quite a walk from the nearest metro station, and the wind blew unobstructed along the big street on which the hotel was located. Staff at the reception were lukewarm and some spoke so little English that I had trouble guessing what they were trying to tell me.
I had a quiet room on a high floor, with a side view over the city. The bed was very comfortable, and the facilities were all in good nick. I very much enjoyed my stay here.

United KingdomI didn’t like that they have to make up your room every two days. I prefer to be left alone.
Located close to the underground and easy to find on the main road. Close to busy night life if you want it and Hie Shrine which is free to visit. No road noise inside the room but a good view from the window of busy Tokyo Road and high rise buildings lit at night. Staff very helpful and keen to assist. Pyjamas provided are super comfy and the beds comfortable too. Left luggage facilities available and very appreciated on my last day.

New ZealandNot uncommon in Tokyo, but very cramped rooms and bathroom. The top of the toilet cistern was the best place to spread out any of your belongings in there. The design of the bath meant you had to have the shower pressure turned down a lot to avoid a serious flood. The breakfast buffet was a little expensive for what it was. I'd suggest the nearby Doutor store, less variety but cheap and fresh.
Clean rooms with comfy beds. Friendly staff that were happy to assist. It was handy to have a reasonable breakfast buffet on site, and train / subway stations were relatively close.

The staff were amazing. Very kind and their English was good. Very tidy. Small room and the air conditioning was average but done the job. Turning it to 16 degrees kept it cool enough to sleep.

SwedenWe stayed 4 nights. One of the reasons for choosing the hotel was the room size. It said 17 m². As we entered the room, the first impression was that the room was very small and it felt much smaller than 17 m². Well, we didn't know for sure but that was how we experienced. The next hotel we were going to stay was one in Kyoto, let's say Hotel B, and the room was also 17 m². We were worried but prepared that the room was going to feel small again. Good surprise was that the room in Hotel B felt/was much bigger, yes, more like 17 m²! Later, on our final day in Japan before flying back, we booked another hotel in Tokyo, let's say Hotel C. This time the room was only 12 m². We didn't care because it was just one night, just to sleep, before catching our flight early morning on next day. To our surprise, the 12 m² in hotel C felt only a bit smaller than the 17 m² room in Hotel Monterey Akasaka. Definitely not difference of 5 m². Of course, we haven't measured any of these rooms but it would be nice to hear something from Hotel Monterey Akasaka about the room size. Would be appreciated! Another issue we experienced was that it was so warm in the room although it was winter and cold outside. We tried everything with the air condition but never managed to get a comfortable temperature so we let the window open... Still warm though. Well, ok, would be worse if we had to freeze... We are not keen on writing something negative, but thought it would only be fair both to other travellers and the hotel to leave our honest experience and feedback. Otherwise, it was good! Thank you!
The location was great. Central but calm. Just as we wanted. The staff was nice and helpful.
