How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We had an amazing staying! Everyone was super nice and kind with us , really clean space , quiet and calm but close to the beach and the downtown too. Perfect location . There’s a kitchen , space to work , roof to relax . Really suggest to everyone! They welcome us the a tea and a cookie , and at the breakfast too

Everything was great, very nice hosts, clean and peaceful environment and beautiful interior. Very nice staff and owner. Peaceful neighborhood. Great for remote workers. I will be back.

Everything was perfect! I could not recommend this place enough. Excellent Excellent Excellent service & hospitality, in every way! A FANTASTIC stay, which ofcourse I extended my time at this beautiful upper-class Moroccan riad. Exceptional quality!! All other riads could learn from your high standard of hospitality! Breakfast and tea in bed! There is too much to type to describe this accommodation. Believe me, you will be so stoked with your decision to stay here. Modern, very clean, comfortable, spacious, single beds, proper bedlinen, proper bathrooms, large rooftop terrace, kind & welcoming owner/ hosts, walking distance to the medina & carrefour, and so on. I will definitely stay here when I return to Essaouira. Thank you. Wow!!!

Welkam Home in Essaouira was a delight! It's so wonderful! As a tour guide, I have been touring Morocco 🇲🇦 for 10 years, I really was surprised by this beautiful experience because I usually stay in hotels but during this time I booked Welkam Home, Kamal is an excellent host! That brought new positive ideas to Essaouira, the place is super clean, pretty decoration! I would stay again and again! 1000% recommended! I have no doubt in mind, that this is the best place to stay in Essaouira. I checked put up to other properties and this is the best. In this Home it looks even better in real life! Kamal was the best host…he explained us so many things, organised and took great care of everything. Also the Home is so lovely designed with passion and a lot of details…the staff was superfriendly highly recommend and if I ever go back, I enjoyed my stay so much! A beautiful family that does not feel like a hotel. Wonderful hospitality, there’s a reason all of the reviews are 5 stars. To sum up, The best place to stay with local family. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Felt like home away from home the way everyone was taking care of me ,the beds are very comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms are always clean,they give you every morning warm tea and croissants. Truly a hidden gem in Essaouira

Amazing place to stay. Comfortable bed, very clean facilities and helpful staff! Kamal (the host) and the rest of the personnel are exquisite, ready to help with anything you need. They're a great added value. The medina (old town centre) is about 30' walking, so you might want to have a car or be willing to walk ;)

The owner alone with the stuff are super amicable and warm. The facilities are clean and convenient. The location is also great! I fully recommend anyone who plans to visit the city.

Spotless, staff always helpful. Located between best supermarket Carrefour, historic Medina and beach. Area surround has many french influenced cafes, boulangerie. Co-working room with ample power sockets, office chairs. 2 large private rooms available and uncrowded dorms
