We arrived at 2am to the hotel and were received with a warm welcome and even offered snacks and refreshments. The room was spacious, and they even left a welcoming note (very cute). The entire staff is excepcional, you feel cared for every day. Would definitely stay again. Also, you're a few blocks away from the main plaza and important places of Ciudad de México so you can walk. If you have a car, the valets are also excellent.

Exceptional Service and Total Peace of Mind! Hotel: Holiday Inn Express Mexico Basilica (Mexico City) My recent stay was outstanding, primarily due to the truly exceptional staff and the comfort of the hotel. The rooms here are a standout feature: they are large, spacious, and impeccably well-maintained and clean. After long days of travel, it was a real pleasure to return to such a comfortable and quiet space. The staff across all departments were consistently friendly and helpful, setting a wonderful tone for the stay. The complimentary breakfast offers a great variety of hot food, including scrambled eggs and many other delicious options, ensuring a filling start to the day. (My only minor suggestion would be to add croissants to the pastry selection, but the quality of the hot breakfast easily makes up for it!) The Incident that Earned the 5 Stars The true test of this hotel’s commitment came when I made a major mistake: I left my mobile phone behind in their airport transfer van. I called immediately, and the front desk staff went above and beyond. They instantly contacted the driver to check, confirming the phone was found and secured. When I informed them I was already on my way back to the hotel, they ensured the phone was brought to the front desk and safely handed back to me as soon as I arrived. This level of honesty, quick action, and integrity is exactly what gives a traveler complete peace of mind. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express Mexico Basilica. This team truly embodies the spirit of customer service! Only the negative is, expect a huge traffic from Airport/ city center to this hotel eventhough the hotel is nearby to airport and city center.

Often, the value of actual hospitality is underrated in the hospitality industry, and it's overshadowed by fancy facilities and frills. Not at Gran Hotel, where the staff treats you like their own guest. They are warm and will go out of their way to help you out. Oh, and the hotel itself is a heritage site with exceptional facilities & a location to kill for! Absolute, must visit. If I am ever in Mexico City again, I am staying at Gran for sure.

FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

It is simply a beautiful city with good food and friendly people. The weather was perfect the week I visited. The air quality was not great, but that's common in great cities. There is an effort to clean the air. I never felt at risk; the people are wonderful. Strangely, I did not eat any Mexican food on my trip. There are so many outstanding eating places. I ate Italian, Middle Eastern, Argentinian. There is plenty of healthy food and vegetarian options. I got around mostly on Uber, but I also took a city tour bus. The diesel fumes are a bit strong--I hope they switch to electric eventually. Some friends drove us to Teohuacan.

What an amazing city.

What an amazing city. Awesome museums, beautiful and safe walkable neighborhoods, architecture is beautiful, and food scene is fantastic, from street vendors to Michelin restaurants. Museum of Anthropology is a must, as is Sumaya museum, and Frida Khelo house. Polanco neighborhood is beautiful, upscale, yet walkable with tree lined streets and amazing streetscapes. Loved Roma Norte area the most for walking around and eating. Condessa also a great area. Historic Center to be avoided other than for a couple sites worth visiting. Finally, Teotihuacan is spectacular.

It is a big City, full of people, wonderful museums, delicious food, lots of art around every corner. The art and history of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera were splendid. Would stay again in Roma Norte. Ubers are easily available, reliable, and economic. But Uber is not allowed at the airport, so make a reservation with a private company. If you want an unbelievable waffle breakfast, please check out Nice Day! Treat yourself to a cooking class at Aura Cocina Mexicana and walk, walk, walk! If you have a day to spend at Tolantongo, go! The hot springs, cave water and river are very nice and really relaxing (but it takes 4 hours to get there and 4 hours home. I would go again in a minute!

I stayed in a beautiful Hotel near Bellas Artes Palace ( Hotel Bellas Artes) . The best location in the Centro Historico. I had dinner at El Cardenal restaurant on Tacuba street. Excent!. Mexico City's Centro Historico is a whole universe inside the city, I will recomend to walk around and discover places in the area, there are penty of restaurants, cantinas, museums, historical sites. It can take more than two days to see the most iconic places. Be ready for a unique adventure. and be safe.

Mexico City is a wonderful place to visit, with so much to offer. There is an incredible variety of museums, historic and religious sites, and vibrant culture. The food is outstanding, and the people are warm, kind, and welcoming. The city is huge and traffic can be heavy, so we mainly used Uber and Didi to get around.

The location of the hotel in regards to the historical city centre was excellent and could be reached on foot within 10 minutes. There was also a nice free breakfast included in the cost of the room. We would stay there again the next time we stay in Mexico City.

This boutique hotel was centrally located in Condesa a short stroll away from Parque Mexico and all that Mexico City has to offer. I had the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. The room was quiet and modern, very calming with earthy tones. Breakfast was fantastic.
