How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Bernadette has thoughtfully designed Feather Self Catering Accommodation. It is spacious, clean and well equipped! We were grateful to use this space after being on the road for several days camping to ground ourselves, do our washing and get ready for our next flight. The space is close to the mall, grocery store, virgin active gym and some great eateries. You can even spot some lovely wildlife across the road! The accommodation has a spacious secure parking space, well equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, clothes drying rack, towels etc. Bernadette was great to communicate with and check in was super easy with her. The only thing we needed was a power point in the bathroom so my partner could use his electric shaver. This however seemed to be a challenge across South Africa and Namibia as no bathrooms seem to have powerpoints.

We stayed self catering and everything was there, washing machine, kitchen gadgets, safe parking, etc. etc. Reasonable. Highly recommended

This is a hidden germ Host is very helpful, she goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable. Place is very clean and well taken care of. Extremely good if one want a place to have a restful night. Perfect

Actually, we liked everything. No complaints at all! :)
Although it was a little difficult to find at first, the second time we stayed there we found it easily. It is in a really quiet, safe location with private parking. Our hostess met us on arrival, which for our first visit was much later than planned as our aeroplane was diverted due to fog. She was kind and gracious.

Arrival is very comfortable as the owner made sure we were informed of all arrangements. The apartment is marketed exactly as it is and we can definitely recommend it. Our stay was lovely, safe and private and we will use it again.

Cotton linen would place this guesthouse over the top.
If I could give another rating toward "Value for Money" I would give a 100 out of 10! This place has everything you might need. Tastefully decorated, nice shower, great location and friendly host.

Nothing, the owners seem to be in this business out of genuine passion for hospitality.
Talk of a warm welcome, this place is among the best, Bernadette was ready to welcome her guest, I appreciated it. The place is nestled in a very quite neighbourhood for a good rest if you need on, and is very clean. Facility exceeded my expectations, I will always return.

The host is very friendly and helpful and has a lot of good tips. The apartment has everything you could ask for and has a very nice location near the Heinitzburg. Also very cute wild animals in the nearby area :)

Hand soap not available in Bathroom. Once discussed with Owner - was advised that it was available in the kitchen.
Spaciousness, all needs met in terms of available resources. Friendly and welcoming Bernadette. Easy access.

Exceptionally clean and spacious accommodation with attention paid to detail. All kitchenware and linens are above standard. Excellent washing machine in the kitchen which is a welcome item to use after weeks traveling. Parking is private and very secure behind a mechanized gate. Hosts are very responsive and helpful. Location is very convenient to all shopping and restaurants. Nice quiet neighborhood, good for walks too! We will definitely stay here again when travelling through Windhoek.
