Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOverall we had a good stay however rooms need desperate updates for them to be charging luxury prices. The masonry with exposed pipes or patchwork repairs, inferior finishes, dusty floors - they need to invest in someone who will help give them a polished look. Garbage kept at entrance parking needs to be in a skip bin not on the ground, stinking in hot sun. All this is an owner management issue, the staff does their best. Now is not the time to be cheap. We visited other lodges in the area and they offered far more. Didn't do any activities but weren't enticed to except Baboon walk. Tour offerings could have more range.
Beautiful and dramatic setting. Great staff. So much potential. Meals were nice.

South AfricaThe food was average and the corkage for bringing your own wine very high.
Beautiful setting with camping chairs to view the mountain outside our tent. The shower was very rustic and the aircon a bonus in the bedroom. The restaurant was well located and had an awesome terrace. The staff were all excellent.

NorwayBe aware that you do need a good 4x4 car to get all the way up to the lodge. We actually enjoyed that bit, but if you don't you can also park at a lower parking spot and have the staff come pick you up.
What a wonderful and unique lodge! The location is just breath-taking and the cabins/tents are luxurious and well spaced out from each other. And the staff is warm and professional and made sure that we for our anniversary also got a surprise from the lodge. We stayed in room 6 (thanks to others for mentioning this in their review) which has a stunning view, even better than the rest of the rooms. The common areas are well taken care of and have everything you need. We did a sunset hike (not a hike actually, it took 10 mins to get up to the small peak from the lodge), where you have an unobstructed view of the plains below the mountains during sunset. Here we could also observe a family of 18 baboons playing a hundred meters from us.

AustraliaThe lights around the camp, though necessary, was a distraction, from the night skies. Apparently this is being addressed by the new owners who are going to use sensor lights. The tent was a little dusty and can get very warm in the afternoon.
The tent we had booked was enormous and comfortable. The furnishings, like cushions for outside chairs, was a little uneven ie some had cushions and others did not. The location in a private reserve was spectacular with huge boulders and views spectacular. There are quite a few trails which you can walk by yourself. Servings at dinner and breakfast were generous; tea time cake was a lovely addition. I recommend this place before or heading out of Windhoek. No. 6, which a friend stayed in, was the best for views but a fair walk from the restaurant!

ZambiaStarting to look a little tired and in need of a freshen up. Beware it is definitely not suitable for those with mobility difficulties. While there are walkways and ramps to reach the rooms, the restaurant/bar/pool are a bit of a walk up a hill and my elderly mother found it really quite a struggle.
Stunning location, beautiful lodge, love the wildlife (daisies, dassie rats, lovebirds...), and we were very well looked after by the wonderful staff.

Germanyour rental car couldn’t make it the last 300m to the lodge. you need to have a big car and be a good driver as it’s very steep. would have been nice to know bevrir: but we called the staff and they picked us up immediately - so the service is very good. the tent gets very hot in summer time and there is only one ventilator. gets cool at night, so at sleep time is ok.
great location in the middle of the mountains, big tents with a personal terrace, very clean and super friendly staff. different tours possible (sun rise, sundowner,..). lunch options for a very fair price. great breakfast and dinner. fridge in the room.

PortugalThe only problem I had there was with the heat. It was impossible to be in the tent during the day, the little fan near the bed doesn't solve the problem. I suggest you put over the tents the same kind of roof you have in the restaurant. That's the only reason why I don't give a 10 to the lodge.
I loved the place, it's very well conceived and with a lot of wildlife. A lovely spacious tent, loved the open concept of the bathroom. Good food in the restaurant and it's great that there is a bird feeder and water near the restaurant, I took some lovely photos from the birds. Lovely staff, a special mention to the safari guide, Reino (I hope it's well written :) and for Timo, at the restaurant. He certainly knows as much about wildlife as he knows about food! A big thank you to everybody!

SwitzerlandHospitality was poor. There is a clear discord between staff and management, which is heavily felt. I was ill-informed on the politics re hiking, reporting to front-desk etc. I was penalised for going on a walk on my own. Communication was aggressive and information on the 'how-to' at the lodge were missing in the 'rooms' - hence the verbal 'abuse' was uncalled for. Even if the 'lodge' is undergoing certain updates, the customer should NEVER be at fault. I gather, from this disappointing experience, that the saying 'customer is king' or ' the customer is always right' is unheard of at this location. I had asked whether it was safe to go for a walk and was informed that there were no dangerous animals - dassies do not attack people. The manager on the other hand informed me that there was leopard about ... information discord at its best. My list is very long - but this should be enough. Suffice it, that I will not visit this place again and cannot recommend it. Price-Performance ratio is WAY off - in a negative sense.
You need a 4x4 to get up to the place. Accommodation was generous in space and nice enough. Sadly there was no view to speak of. The food was poor - not what I anticipated for the rate charged.
