How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The smell and no windows in the rooms. The area was a tad sketchy too.
We only stayed a night in a private room. It was comfortable enough and had its own clean bathroom but it didn't have any windows. It is in a basement so it is a bit musty smelling throughout. The staff was kind and the bed was comfortable but everything seemed a little old and outdated.

As described, good value & convenient. There was a (loud!) private function nearby until early morning hours, but the man on reception apologized and brought earplugs, which was thoughtful. Backpacker+ style, fine for 1-2 nights, well-equipped

The hostel is mostly underground which is not obvious from the description, we felt like in a prison. The lights were very bright and cold, having them off was not an option due to the lack of windows, having them on was hurtful for the eyes. Would have been nice to have a bedside table at least. Bedsheets were a bit dirty as well. Kitchen was very messy, not a lot of utensils and place to sit. Despite being underground the ventilation worked efficiently but very loudly.
Staff is extremely helpful and kind, WiFi connection is exceptional. Bathroom was clean.

Hard to find the front door and very steep steps immediately at the entrance Told on check in, that no alcohol allowed, this should be stated before booking.
Clean, airconditioned and own clean bathroom. Unexpected inclusion of microwave, jug and cutlery/crockery

Night club type music above at night, bring ear plugs!
Good location, walking distance to city centre. We checked in early as confirmed with the hostel on the morning of our stay, really appreciated that. Air con in the room was very welcome, especially as you can’t open any window. Good shower.

Property located near shops and clubs so it is really loud at the weekend and pretty much all day from around 9.30am Walls thin so tv from kitchen which was next door was extremely loud

Not a massive common room area! There are some tables in the hallway but there is only one sofa and two chairs where the TV is. Some of the people are very loud there.
Kitchen clean and not very busy. WiFi worked very well. Beds were comfy. We stayed in a private room with a private bathroom and it was all very clean - even had our own cutlery.

The bunk bed I stayed in was the most stable I could feel the person below move all night which constantly woke me up On the weekend I think there’s a bar nearby which played music till late/early morning which kept me awake

The rooms don't have windows! The kitchen was messy! The hostel is underground of a club the voice from upstairs is terrible until maybe 2 am!

I don't like the smells of the room ,The smell is so strong, and I can't even sleep. It smells like chemicals or whatever was used to design the room is so smells. I tried to on the AC the whole night, so it helps go away the smells eventhou its cold bt at least its help the night.. At least put some fragrance inside to help smells go away if you know that there was a customer who would be there for a night's. The shower was not warm enough even if you stayed there longer and hope it's gonna be hot / warm, but NO WAY😢🙅♀️
The room was clean and small enough for me ! I like the location 💯 %.

The room had an odd smell but apart from that was ok. Also could have propper bedding. Like duvet covers.
