How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Our only feeling is that it is a bit far from the village. walking there in daylight is fine but in the evening, not possible as there are dimly lit streets and no sidewalks.

The cabin we were in had a tree limb that was relatively low so I made a sign to remind myself that my SUV and box would not fit underneath.

A very small thing was no dish towels or paper towels... the staff quickly provided these for us upon request. Service was excellent.
Wonderful convenient location. Very quaint looking environment in carmel by the Sea. Spacious rooms and common space. Fast response to requests.

Not enough power outlets
Location was walking distance to downtown and quiet. Bed comfortable, fridge and microwave in room and outdoor table and chairs by cabin. Affordable for Carmel.

Rustic as we expected. This is not a luxury location and is very quaint, clean and comfortable. Nothing needed that we didn’t have. Great location and value.

Very antiqued and in need of updates. Their was no sink in the bathroom and the mattress was very bad.
Location is near to everything we wanted to see or do.

The noise from the road was a huge issue. I ended up going back to the front desk to upgrade my room to one that wasn't on the main road for an extra fee. Sad I had to pay more but oh well.

Winding through the grounds to our unit, parked SUV’s that were never imagined when this place was built made navigating through the narrow streets very difficult. Once we figured out that we could easily reach our unit from the street behind it, there was some relief for the anxiety.
The property is quaint with well maintained gardens. The unit was a duplex style, which was nice.

Could have been a bit cleaner! The manager was also parked in the spot in front of our room which was confusing. Our card also didn't work at first, but this was quickly taken care of.
Very spacious rooms close to downtown! We stayed with our son and he had plenty of room to crawl around. We also liked not being attached to other rooms since our son woke up a few times at night. This way we didn't have to worry as much about waking the neighbors.

I would like a desk and chair to sit at. A chair for sitting in the bedroom area and putting on shoes would be helpful near the door.

The place was very quaint and clean. I like the lil cabin feel. It’s in the middle of a quiet residential area only 2 miles from Main Street. “Ocean” where there are good places to eat and many cute shops and art galleries. 5 minutes from beach. Great parking spot right in front of your door.

It’s run down and tired-looking, but then this is probably why the price was reasonable.

I was frustrated by the contact with the staff about parking my car on the lot before check in time, so I didn't need to drive after my wine tasting in town. They were neither helpful or friendly, nor accommodating. There might have a good reason why I could park earlier, but it definitely couldn't have been because previous guest had not checked out, brcaus I arrived long after check out time. I was more frustrated about the communication about this than the fact I couldn't park. I
Loved the room, the decor. Room extra spacious plus a little setting room.
