How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Sink drain was difficult to operate and a pretty funky design. Told the owner and she was very apologetic. Outside of that it was very good.
Nice room, a bit on the small side. The fresh cut flowers in a vase was a nice treat! Room is quiet which I liked.

The heater was noisy and the older settings didn’t allow fan to stay on so it cycled off and on all night.
The room was very clean and the dog area was large. Good size refrigerator and 4 cup coffee pot with extra coffee supplies. The room had many little extras like special soaps, real coffee cups, handmade quilt and specially folded towels. Overall it was a lovely room and I would stay again.

Safe, quiet, clean and comfortable! The owners are the nicest hosts ever! We enjoyed our stay in a very clean comfy room that was quiet and felt safe. Will definitely be back!

It was awesome there
The best part was Louisa. She goes beyond kindness, very sweet and very welcoming. Definitely will go back there. Told our family, it was better then the Condo they rented.

We love staying at this wonderful small hotel. The owner keeps everything spotless,and will go out of her way to make sure everyone is comfortable and has what they need. Dogs are welcomed and have use of a nice grassy area as long we all pick up after our dogs.

Everything was great, excellent value too.
Everything was very clean. Louisa was an excellent and helpful host. Upgraded bathrooms were very nice. Hotel is set back from the road, much quieter. Great dog friendly spot with nice grass to run the dog in.

The bathroom was a little small and somewhat dated.
Everything! We were met by the owner/manage as we drove up. She took one look at my 6ft 6in frame and said, "I can upgrade your room for you." I expected an extra charge, but she said it would be complimentary because she wasn't full for the night. After I asked about nearby restaurants she gave us a list with her recommendations clearly marked and with each location marked on a map. Our room was well appointed with everything you could need. If you are looking for excellent accommodations at a very reasonable price, check out the Golden West.

Limited amenities, and there is limited visibility leaving the parking lot into traffic.
Very nice owner, clean and comfortable, real coffee and creamers in rooms, free WiFi and cable, good value.

Everything was great!
The motel manager and her husband were awesome, so kind, informative and knowledgeable. We will stay there any time we pass through. Very clean and nice room.

The room next to mine was a family room. Unfortunately, a couple with small kids checked in and were quite loud. Surprisingly, the walls were quite a bit thicker at this motel than any other I stayed at which helped to muffle the loud family.
The room was clean and cozy. There was a green space outside which was nice for my dog. The motel is tucked slightly away from the highway which helps to keep the traffic noise to a minimal. The owner is a very friendly lady who was fantastic to deal with.

Off the road enough that it was pretty quiet. Rooms were super clean and had nice touches like ground coffee and ceramic mugs. Beds were comfortable; appreciated microwave and small fridge. Host is wonderful and so considerate!

The staff was terrific. When she saw my needs, she found the perfect room to accommodate my elderly dog and my triathlon bike. After I left, I realized I had forgotten to pack an item. She checked the room and followed up with me.

Nothing. Everything was great for us. We did not, but if you have a room near the road, you might have some road noise.

The owner is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It feels like you’re staying at your aunts place which happens to be a motel. We called to push our arrival time back and the owner was very accommodating. I thought I added my pet on booking.com but didn’t and we just paid in person. These seem like small things but at a less friendly place it could cause issues. The room was preheated when we arrived and the room had a much warmer feel than the photos showed. I’d choose golden west over any other place in the area.

My only complaint was the heating/AC unit. I only needed heat and yet the AC compressor ran all the time, I suspect the unit needs servicing/repair/replacement. I stepped outside in the morning and several adjacent units were occupied, and none of their wall units were making the noise that mine was. That and I had to set the thermostat really high to keep warm. Something similar happened years ago on my (not so old) Rheem home furnace. A cheap Chinese printed circuit board croaked and when I turned on the AC, the furnace came on. I occupied the 2nd unit from the end (near the office) in the upper building at this hotel.
The hostess was very accommodating and friendly and the room was comfortable and very clean.
