Great stay by the Nile I had a really nice stay here. The room was super clean and tidy, which made it very comfortable. The host was welcoming and really on top of everything, making sure everything ran smoothly. The best part was definitely the terrace overlooking the Nile—such a peaceful spot with an amazing view of the hills. I also really enjoyed the tea and the homemade dinners, which were delicious and felt like real home cooking. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing stay by the river!

I don’t usually write reviews, but my friends and I were so touched by our stay that I had to share.
Despite arriving late at night, we were warmly welcomed by the staff with a welcome drink — such kindness! The room was spotless, the air conditioning worked perfectly, water pressure and hot water were great, and everything was in top condition.
The staff were incredibly friendly, and though we had to check out early, they thoughtfully packed us breakfast to-go.
It was the best stay we had in Egypt — great value and an unforgettable experience. I’d love to come back next time I visit.

Located in the Nubian Desert on the banks of the Nile, opposite Elephantine Island, Sofitel Legend Old Cataract offers elegant rooms and suites. It features outdoor and indoor pools.
Guests can visit the hotel’s spa and relax in the sauna, the hammam, or the hot tub. They can also use the fitness centre or enjoy massage treatments.
The most beautiful, gracious hotel that I've ever stayed at; it was truely an experience that I will treasure and my time spent there is a highlight of my visit to Egypt.
The Sofitel Cataract hotel was like an oasis, a place of tranquility and calm, as once stepping out onto the busy street there isn't too much peace to be had from a tourist's perspective.
My massive suite with spectacular Nile river views was magnificent and I so enjoyed watching the boating activity at sunset from my balcony.
I could not believe the size of the hotel's swimming pool, I would estimate it to be well over 50 metres and was astonished by the many many hectares of beautifully maintained lawn and garden beds.
The hotel is steeped in history evidenced by the dozens of photographs of previous famous guests displayed along the hotel's main corridor. I really enjoyed the tour of the hotel which allowed guests to view 2 stately suites that had once been occupied by Sir Winston Churchill and Agatha Christie respectively..
I really loved the endless choices on offer at the hotel's breakfast service and also the wait staff's attention to me was highly personalised, by the second morning they were familiar with my every need.
My room was kept beautifully clean and well stocked with amenities.
Security staff at the gate helped me out many times each day when I needed interpreter help for directions and to negotiate a reasonable fare when dealing with the taxi drivers.
All staff were so attentive and cheerful. I only wish that I could remember the names of the so many truely professional team members, at all levels, who displayed such genuine kindness when engaging with me.
I do remember Kirolos however as he first greeted me at reception upon my arrival. I would subsequently chat with him and update him with news of my daily sightseeing. In return he would provide me with many a practical tips when visting Aswan and the surrounds.

Obelisk Nile Hotel Aswan Resort is located on the Nile Corniche, just 5 minutes' drive from the centre of Aswan. All rooms have a garden view. Free Wi-Fi is available in the public areas around the lobby. The room was extremely comfortable with a direct view of the Nile. Quality was exceptional and confirmed in the small details like toiletries and mattress (quality). Staff was lovely and professional. There are two ATMs at the hotel - inside the garden next to the restaurant and right at the main door next to security, which is very convenient and safe to withdraw at any time. Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations.

Our stay at this resort was truly exceptional, and the location played a huge part in that. We were lucky to get Nile view rooms, and waking up to that breathtaking scenery every day made the experience incredibly memorable and well worth it. The sense of peace and serenity from the view alone added so much value to our stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They were warm, professional, and went out of their way to accommodate our needs—including a late check-out, which we really appreciated. Every interaction we had with them reflected their sincere commitment to hospitality and guest satisfaction. The breakfast spread each morning was impressive, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. What stood out the most was their thoughtfulness in catering to guests with early excursions—particularly for Abu Simbel. They not only offered a 3 AM breakfast service but also provided packed breakfast boxes for those on the go, which was incredibly convenient and thoughtful. The resort itself is tucked away in a location that feels very exclusive and peaceful, far from the noise and crowds, yet it remains accessible. The private ferry service to and from the main parking area was prompt, well-managed, and added a touch of uniqueness to the experience—it made us feel like we were on a private island retreat. After long days of sightseeing and travel, the resort’s spa was a true sanctuary. I had one of the best foot massages I’ve ever experienced—deeply relaxing and much needed after a full day of walking. It was the perfect way to unwind and rejuvenate. Also they have a 4 pm chocolate hour which my kids loved! All in all, our stay here was more than just accommodation—it felt like a peaceful escape that left us refreshed, well cared for, and full of beautiful memories. We would absolutely love to return and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The location was great, very close to the public ferry. Our host was friendly and helpful, and also upgraded our room. We had a lovely stay.
The place is a perfect getaway away from the hustle and bustle of Aswan (and much needed). The pool is nice and the atmosphere is lovely. You can swim in the Nile too! The manager upgraded our room free of charge and provided takeaway breakfasts for us when we had to leave at 4am for a flight. Would 100% recommend if you have a few days and want to relax. Best place to stay in the area hands down.
Lovely and clean. Tiled floors are welcoming. People are lovely and organised a trip to abu simbal that went smoothly. Good location and great facilities. When booking i had not intended to do laundry, but we were pleased to be able to do so. Only spent one night but we all wished we could have stayed longer as the communal areas were spacious and relaxing. The WiFi works well and so the kids were delighted.
The location in the village is lovely and calm, pretty views and nice surroundings, can easily walk to the souk in a minute The meals I had there were very good, so much variety. Beautiful hotel, the chalet I stayed in was cute and colourful in keeping with the colourful houses of the village. I was upgraded on arrival which was very kind of them. The staff really make this place! I was a solo female traveller and they really looked after me, all knew me by name and they honestly couldn’t do enough for you.
Ahmad upgraded us to a room with view of the Nile and it was very beautiful and relaxing. Also allowed us to check in late. Ahmad was very polite and friendly and kindly arranged us a brilliant car tour to Abu Simbel. Ahmad did not hassle or push for any services unlike other places in Egypt.
Perfect location on relaxed Elaphantine island, spotlessly clean room, delicious breakfasts and dinners on terrace overlooking the Nile and lovely staff who were very sweet with our 8 month old baby. Thanks for a great stay
We had a fantastic stay, the family were really helpful and our breakfast was wonderful. It was very relaxing watching the river and amazing sunsets. We found lovely restaurants and everyone we met on Elephantine were polite and welcoming..
Very very lovely, nice vieuw and just the island is relaxed and nice! And Said is a very good person. Inshallah I will come back one day again, this was my second time here because it’s so nice
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay here! Our host was lovely and friendly and we were greeted with a welcome drink, which was a lovely touch. Had a lovely view of the Nile and the desert area from the rooftop terrace. Our room was rustic and cosy. Very close to the archaeological site on Elephantine Island and the ferry boat station.
