Located in the heart of the city, Hotel Nikko Kumamoto features accommodations with free wired internet access and views of Kumamoto Castle. Amazing hotel, close to the castle. Staff were absolutely attentive. The room was huge and with castle views. Very convenient if you are taking the coach line to Yufuin or Kurokawa, as the bus station is in front of the hotel.

Set in Minamioguni in the Kumamoto region, Ryokan Yamanoyu offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Meals were exceptional especially bbq dinner. Private family outdoor onsen was great experience we used 3 times over 2-nights stay

Built in 1722, Okyakuya is situated in the historical district of Kurokawa Onsen district. Located only 100 metres from Kurokawa Onsen, Free WiFi is provided and private parking is available on site. We had an amazing stay at Okyakuya and would absolutely love to return. The location could not be better, right in the heart of Kurokawa Onsen. When we visited, the entire town was beautifully lit up for the holidays, and it made evening walks feel incredibly special and romantic. The staff were truly wonderful. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and their English was very good, which made conversations easy and enjoyable. The service went above and beyond. We loved being able to chat with the staff, and one of the highlights was running into them while walking around the holiday lights. They immediately offered to take a photo of us, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture that really stayed with us. The food was also excellent. Every meal was delicious, and we really appreciated that each one was different, making every dining experience something to look forward to. Overall, Okyakuya made our time in Kurokawa Onsen incredibly memorable, and we would happily recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional hospitality and a truly special stay.

Located in the centre of Kurokawa Onsen, Oyado Noshiyu offers outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, Japanese-style accommodations and a traditional teahouse. The stay in the Kurokawa Onsen exceeded our expectations. We spent amazing 18 hours in the onsen. We had specious room with private onsen. We could also use the other onsens in the resort privately. Dinner was served in a private room. The serving, taste, presentation was of the level of Michelin restaurant. The staff pays attention of every detail. Definitely worth recommendation. We loved it!

Boasting spacious indoor and outdoor hot spring baths surrounded by lush greenery, Ryokan Wakaba provides Japanese-style accommodation in the peaceful mountain area. Ryokan wakaba is a beautiful space. The staff are attentive and friendly, there’s a nice bar on the main floor, and it’s well situated in kurokawa onsen—close to the other ryokan onsens but not in the middle of the foot traffic. Compare to other ryokans, the group onsen is not as hot. However, guests of the ryokan may reserve a private bath at no charge, and the space was great with hot and good water. The food was great, and served in the room. Given the options for private baths, this ryokan is great for families.

Boasting hot spring baths surrounded by beautiful gardens, Shinwaen provides charming Japanese-style accommodation, and lavish meals are served in guest rooms. This was a great ryokan at a good price! We really enjoyed our stay here, and the staff was very helpful. We even got welcome beans at check in. We had a big room with tatami mats and futons, and a low table with chairs. The room also had a toilet and washing room, but you had to use the public or private onsen to shower. That was more than fine for us, as we really enjoyed the private onsen. There is no booking system, you can just use it when it is available.

Only a 5-minute walk from the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring district, Kurokawa Onsen Ryokan Ichinoi offers Japanese-style accommodations with Japanese Yukata robes. Fantastic ryokan. Food was excellent, outdoor onsen was nice, the rooms were cozy. Location is peaceful, but close enough to the main part of Kurokawa Onsen to go for a walk.

Boasting individual Japanese-style houses and maisonettes with a private open-air hot spring bath, Ryokan Kono-Yu is nestled in lush greenery in the peaceful Kurokawa hot spring area. We were blown away by this wonderful accommodation and staff. The team who looked after us were the warmest, most helpful people and the ryokan itself was simply stunning. Having our own private Onsen was amazing and the tatami room was very stylish . Dinner and breakfast were delicious too - we can’t wait to stay again in the future.

Kumamoto Hotel Castle is a 7-minute walk from the famous Kumamoto Castle. It features 4 restaurants and modern guest rooms with free WiFi. Its a very good and spacious hotel. I reserved a standard room with 2 beds and the hotel room was much bigger than I expected. The location is very convenient. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Kumamoto Castle. The staff are very friendly too.
