The hotel is situated very well - right next to the main station in Gora. The room was sufficiently spacious, and the four single beds (two as bunks on a sturdy mezzanine that was fun for our children) were very comfortable. Half-board includes a very good dinner - a fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean that impressed -- and a very good buffet breakfast. The hotel has a public onsen with milky white water. The onsen, with separate male and female baths, is limited to 6 persons per bath and has a very friendly guide sheet in the dressing rooms. The experience was very good.

Featuring a garden, Hakone Onsen Yuyado Yamanoshou is set in Hakone, 200 metres from Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands. This 3-star ryokan features free WiFi. Authentic feel of the place and the food, the onsen was also wonderful. Everything was clean, and the traditional beds on the floor were surprisingly comfortable.

Clean and big room - very traditional old Japanese style Ryokan; exactly what we have been looking for. Great location too. The staff was fantastic, providing us with tips for the neighbourhood and some interesting Japanese coffee jelly. There is free coffee, tea and water as well at all times. Be sure to reserve breakfast at least a day in advance. We missed it and unfortunately could not get a taste of it (though it looked fantastic).

Kusatsu Onsen Eidaya is located in Kusatsu. The property is a 10-minute walk from Kusatsu Yubatake and Kusatsu-Onsen Bus Terminal. The location was close to the bus station which was convenient and the staff were very friendly and welcoming! The maisonette we booked was very beautiful and the onsen was amazing!

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. Absolutely everything. Amazing value for money.

Boasting rare nigori-yu milky water hot spring baths and , Mount View Hakone offers Japanese-style rooms and Japanese delicacies. The bus stop for bus from Odawara is right next to the hotel. Impressive traditional breakfasts and dinners that were not the same every day. The river is nearby and you can hear it flowing. The location is generally very quiet and there were no crowds of wild tourists. I tried even private onsen and it was a good experience. The public onsen was also nice. Futon was extremely convenient to sleep on. The traditional Japanese room is perfect for relaxation, meditation and sleeping. There was pot for boiling water and making green tea. The tea, cups and teapot were very nice.

Opened in June 2013, The Edo Sakura offers accommodation in a Japanese-style Machiya townhouse located a 5-minute walk from Iriya Subway Station and a 10-minute walk from JR Uguisudani Train Station. I really loved staying here! The place was very clean, great location and the interior was so nice. Staff was so friendly and helpful, even they were helpful when I asked for spoon & fork in the middle of the night. Will gladly stay here again!

Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. The price is very reasonable and all services are perfect! The staff are very helpful and friendly. I don’t understand how some people can find fault in these staff!
