We loved the authentic ryokan feel with the tatami mats. We booked the kaiseki dinner which I’d highly recommend as it was so delicious. Staff were brilliant, took time to explain everything. The onsen was lovely and my first experience of it in Japan! Room was so spacious and clean. Nice quiet neighbourhood close to subway station.

The staff are extremely helpful, be it with recommendations for restaurants or reservations. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. The hotel is in a quiet side street about 15 minutes walk from the main train station. Bus and train are nearby. The private Onzen next to the bath room guarantees a relaxing break after a full day of sight seeing.

The room is just right for two and it's clean and comfortable. The free entry to bath house opposite the Ryokan is a must try.

Offering free Wi-Fi and a spacious public bath, Ryokan Ryokufuso is located a 15-minute walk away from JR Kyoto Train Station. We really loved the ryokan. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, and it reflected traditional Japanese culture wonderfully. The staff were excellent — very kind and helpful. Despite some reviews mentioning noise, we had no issues at all; in fact, I would say it was quite peaceful. We also used the onsen and truly enjoyed it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience for us in every way, and we were very satisfied with our stay. The location of the hotel was a little bit away from the city center, but honestly, I didn’t mind at all. Kyoto is a small city, and we could easily get to all the places we wanted to visit. So if you’re staying at a ryokan like this, I think location doesn’t matter that much — unless you’re planning a very long stay, in which case you might want to consider it. For us, it was definitely not a problem.

Seikoro Ryokan is located in Kyoto, a 7-minute drive from JR Kyoto Station. Featuring traditional Japanese-style accommodation, it offers a public bath and massage services. This was my favorite hotel. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was sick from food poisoning and could not enjoy it to the max, but the staff was extremely good to me. I cannot thank them enough. The futon beds were extremely comfortable, all the structure really took me back to almost 200 years ago. I really wanted to get the traditional breakfast, but I was too sick so I got the western one that was delicious. Cant wait to be back.

Everything! The heated tatami mats. The customer service was on another level. So kind and attentive. I chose a breakfast option and was the best experience ever with the quality of food and how you were treated as a guest. I also had a bath in my room and after a long day of walking it was the best treat anyone can get.

Ryokan Sumiya Kihoan offers a hot spring bath and a hot tub, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Kameoka, 13 km from Oyamazumi Shrine. This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and free shuttle... An exceptional ryokan with outstanding service and incredibly polite staff. The atmosphere is peaceful, cozy, and very private. Our room with a private onsen was absolutely amazing, and the kaiseki dinner was unforgettable — truly a culinary experience.
