Marumo Ryokan is an authentic Japanese ryokan and is hands down the best we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, it is impeccably clean, and the meals are a delicious traditional feast. The hosts are very accommodating and thoughtful. We took the train to Omi-Iwazu and then rode back to Omi-Takashima, where we rented bikes to visit the Shirahige shrine. We also went to Makino to spend some time at the beach. Our entire group of five wished we had planned to stay for 2 or 3 nights instead of one. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip and we would hands down all choose to stay there again!

This place is a real gem for relaxation. Our room had a great view to the Biwa lake, comfy beds, and an open air bath. Our first dinner was a 10+ plate Kaiseki menu, and as our second dinner we chose crab shabu shabu, which was excellent as well. Tried public onsens (indoor and outdoor pools), private onsen, and massage. Wore Yukatas the whole time :) All public and private areas were exceptionally spacious. The staff were very welcoming. There was a shuttle to/from the nearest train station.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. I liked how friendly the staff was and how many things there were to do at the facility! We did onsen (in our room and the public onsen), walked around the grounds, did karaoke, and enjoyed the multi course dinner!

Yumotokan har en god beliggenhed i Ogoto Onsen-distriktet i Otsu. Det ligger 16 km fra Enryakuji-templet, 17 km fra Mount Hiei og 19 km fra Shoren-in-templet. General experience, Excellent. I loved every details of this hotel, food, hot spring, service and it's room. We spent entire day in the hotel and could not get enough. The dinner and breakfast is not cheap but definitely worth a try, the most delicate food I have in Japan during this journey.

Dantokan Kikunoya ligger 5 minutters kørsel fra JR Ogoto Onsen Station og har varme kilder. Der tilbydes gratis afhentning fra stationen efter forudgående anmodning. The staff here are incredible. They went above and beyond to help us celebrate our honeymoon. I was so grateful for how hard they all worked and how kind they all were. We also got the breakfast service in our room, which was excellent, and they provided several drinks in the fridge for us for free. They shuttled us from the station and back to it, and we were even sent off by the staff at the end of our stay. So friendly and welcoming. Also, our deluxe suite had the private open air bath, and I can't recommend that enough. It was so relaxing and incredible. Lastly, I personally loved the toiletries and additional things that came with the room (shampoo, straightener, beverages, yukata, pajamas, etc.)

Ryokan Beniayu ligger i Nagahama, 26 km fra Hikone Slot, og har gratis cykler, et fælles opholdsområde og en terrasse samt gratis privat parkering. Incredible ryokan experience! We loved the tranquil scenery which overlooked Lake Biwa. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional and traditional. We stayed two nights and the meals were never repeated. We loved the in room outdoor onsen overlooking the lake and the massage chair was a nice touch. A very relaxing stay. The staff was very friendly and really tried to speak English to us. We had no communication barriers. Will definitely return and highly recommend this ryokan. Very memorable experience.

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone ligger i Hikone, 2,7 km fra Hikone Slot og 6 km fra Maibara Station. Her er en restaurant og gratis privat parkering samt gratis wi-fi overalt. Nice view from the room and bath. Large room. Amazing dinner and service. Pretty much everything.

Honmachi Juku ligger i Hikone, mindre end 1 km fra Hikone Slot, og har en have, et fælles opholdsområde og gratis privat parkering. Overnatningsstedet er røgfrit og ligger 7,2 km fra Maibara Station. The homemade Japanese breakfasts were phenomenal and a very good value. Almost unbelievable. Each day was different, with a healthy balance of vegetables, proteins, and carbs (rice). Authentic, and served by a wonderful woman.
