Marumo Ryokan is an authentic Japanese ryokan and is hands down the best we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, it is impeccably clean, and the meals are a delicious traditional feast. The hosts are very accommodating and thoughtful. We took the train to Omi-Iwazu and then rode back to Omi-Takashima, where we rented bikes to visit the Shirahige shrine. We also went to Makino to spend some time at the beach. Our entire group of five wished we had planned to stay for 2 or 3 nights instead of one. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip and we would hands down all choose to stay there again!

This ryokan is absolutely beautiful. The entire stay from check in to check out was exceptional. We went as a family with our 4yo and 8mo and they had all the facilities we needed including high chairs (a selection) for the kids as well as a kids menu, toy borrowing service and books. The public baths were beautiful. Make sure to try them all! We had the kaiseki dinner in a private room which was delicious and meant the kids being a little noisy didn't bother anyone. Our room overlooked Lake Biwa and it was very comfortable.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. The staff were amazing, the facilities as well. The room with the open-air bath with the view on the lake biwa was breathtaking, especially during the sunrise! I will come again

Yumotokan har ett perfekt läge i området Ogoto Onsen i Ōtsu, 16 km från Enryaku-ji Temple, 17 km från Hiei berg och 19 km från Shoren-in Temple. En helt fantastisk upplevelse. Servicen var enastående och rummet med badet som vi bokat var underbart.

Dantokan Kikunoya ligger 5 minuters bilresa från stationen JR Ogoto Onsen och har en varm källa. Gratis upphämtning från stationen erbjuds på begäran i förväg. The staff here are incredible. They went above and beyond to help us celebrate our honeymoon. I was so grateful for how hard they all worked and how kind they all were. We also got the breakfast service in our room, which was excellent, and they provided several drinks in the fridge for us for free. They shuttled us from the station and back to it, and we were even sent off by the staff at the end of our stay. So friendly and welcoming. Also, our deluxe suite had the private open air bath, and I can't recommend that enough. It was so relaxing and incredible. Lastly, I personally loved the toiletries and additional things that came with the room (shampoo, straightener, beverages, yukata, pajamas, etc.)

長浜城下 町屋ホテル 和乃リトリートひといき ligger i Nagahama, 14 km från Hikone slott, och erbjuder boende med en trädgård, gratis privat parkering, en terrass och en bar. Our room was wonderful. The amenities were thoughtful and high quality. The host was extremely friendly and treated us to a tour of beautiful Nagahama.

The Gran Resort Oumi Maiko ligger i Ōtsu, 23 km från Sanzen-in tempel, och erbjuder boende med en trädgård, gratis privat parkering och en bar. The onsen was really great, there's a sauna and cold bath, as well as an outdoor bath.

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone ligger i Hikone, inom 2,7 km från Hikone slott och 6 km från Maibara station, och erbjuder boende med en restaurang och gratis WiFi i alla utrymmen samt gratis privat parkering... Nice view from the room and bath. Large room. Amazing dinner and service. Pretty much everything.

Honmachi Juku ligger i Hikone, mindre än 1 km från Hikone slott, och erbjuder boende med en trädgård, gratis privat parkering och en gemensam lounge. The homemade Japanese breakfasts were phenomenal and a very good value. Almost unbelievable. Each day was different, with a healthy balance of vegetables, proteins, and carbs (rice). Authentic, and served by a wonderful woman.
