Comfortable Accommodations: Onsen Guest House Tsutaya in Hakone offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and mountain views. This guest house is just excellent! The lounge easily beats any other hotel/hostel common area I've been to. The kitchen has any appliance you could imagine (including everything needed for a pour over coffee) and it even has two kotatsus to get cozy under! The onsen is absolutely beautiful and the adjacent dressing room area is supplied well. The women's dorm was clean and your sleeping area is bigger than it looks, it's almost like a tiny room, and feels very private. The location is beautiful, if not a little out of the way, but nothing a short bus ride can't fix. Will 100% be back for the lounge area and the onsen alone!

The breakfast was one of the best ones I ever had! Food was so good, the hotel is very clean and organized. The onsen area is very nice with Hakone milky waters. And specially, their staff is amazing! The girls at the reception were so kind and friendly! Really good service.

Featuring a garden, Hakone Onsen Yuyado Yamanoshou is set in Hakone, 200 metres from Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands. This 3-star ryokan features free WiFi. The breakfast and dinner spreads were exquisite. I was very impressed with their chef. The atmosphere of the ryokan gave you a sense of being tucked away in the woods and back in time. The staff were courteous and warm, ever so accommodating. A most beautiful experience and wonderful for the body and soul. I would most definitely love to return in future.

The staff were very friendly and ready to help with recommendations for activities and transport.

Featuring a terrace with views of Lake Ashi, Hakone・Ashinoko Hanaori offers a soothing hot spring bath and sauna. The property is situated a 2-minute walk from Togendai Station on Hakone Ropeway. Hotel is located near the ferry and ropeway, which makes it easy to access even though it's on the most remote side of the lake (we arrived via the ropeway, and left via the ferry). Dinner/breakfast buffets are well furnished, and you'll definitely find something you'll like. There's also an all-you-can-drink bar during dinner, which is nice if you want to try out some Japanese liquors/drinks. The hotel's onsen is very cozy, and I'd definitely recommend going before/after dinner, as it's very peaceful when the sun has set and the lights are dimmed. We had a private hot bath in our room, which was spacious enough to fit the two of us, although in a seating position only. Staff is nice and helpful, and speak english sufficiently well that we had no issue understanding each other.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. Basically everything was great.

Boasting rare nigori-yu milky water hot spring baths and , Mount View Hakone offers Japanese-style rooms and Japanese delicacies. Large room; excellent dinner; good onsen ( the public one was never crowded during mt stay); bus station right in front of the hotel; take the bus from Odawara to the hotel; use the Halone pass for 2-3 days;

Opened in June 2013, The Edo Sakura offers accommodation in a Japanese-style Machiya townhouse located a 5-minute walk from Iriya Subway Station and a 10-minute walk from JR Uguisudani Train Station. Breakfast was amazing. Personal was very dedicated. Smiles only

Opened in 1878, The Fujiya Hotel features Meiji Era architecture set in Hakone’s natural beauty. Our stay at Fujiya was exceptional. The hotel has a grand, old world charm to it in a Japanese style. There were amazing details to see in the building itself and the grounds. Service was amazing by the staff who all spoke good English. Food was wonderful and served in a very classy full service style with silverware. The gardens and koi pond were beautiful in the autumn. The onsen spa also was great after a long day's sightseeing. It was a truly memorable experience to stay here and a highlight of our trip.
