Most of the Thai traders there can speak Malay too (which is good for Malaysian tourists!) and many of the Thai traders there accept payment in Malaysian Ringgit, which is good if you are careful about not running out of Thai Baht cash sooner than you want to. Sungai Kolok is also a good place for Thai-Malay food adventure. The food there, even at small humble stalls, are tasty and prices are reasonable.
