For dinner we were to a local pub that is around the street. (Hunter Café -Bar) it was really good. I rented a car and it was easy to get there.

The lodgings are comfortable, well-equipped, and perfectly located for exploring the surrounding paramo, which was largely why I had come there. Even so, the highlight of my stay was getting to know this very smart and accomplished couple; Pacho is a retired professor and Fabiola is a hard-hitting independent journalist and editor. They are true Colombian intellectuals, with lots of knowledge to share about everything from contemporary Colombian politics to culture, wildlife and coffee (we conversed in Spanish). Although I only stayed two nights, by the time I left I had truly made new friends--certainly the next time I am in the Bogotá area I will be making an effort to go and stay with them again.
