We then had access to local hiking trails and were able to walk into town to go on adventures further abroad.

The host's communication was excellent, and though we didn't meet, we felt very welcomed. Thanks for the chocolate that was waiting for us! There were various touches that made it a nice place to stay with kids, and ours definitely looked forward to coming back every evening. It's an easy walk from the train station. It was manageable even with luggage in stormy weather.
