The green Alameda Monterrey is a block north, and the center is 10-30 minutes' walk depending where you're going. It's completely quiet. The owner is warm, friendly and helpful... for instance, they offered to take me to a doctor when I was feeling sick. The kitchen is nicely equipped (though you need to unplug the refrigerator to use the microwave, and one time i forgot to plug in the fridge again!). I loved the king-size bed, which is a fairly rare thing in Mexico. Once I figured out how to turn on the heat, I had that too -- another surprise in Mexico. (The heat is only in the bedroom, but it gradually drifts into the kitchen and bathroom... I used the big tower fan to help warm those sooner, I hoped). Everything was spotlessly clean.

What a wonderful place to stay! Juan the host is really helpful. There are lots of cafes, shops and restaurants near the apartment. You can walk along the river.
